Seems that women who eat enough omega-3 fatty acid (found in fish and other foods) during their pregnancies give birth to children who have sharp problem-solving skills! According to this study: http://www.reutershealth.com/archive/2007/06/22/eline/links/20070622elin002.html women should eat salmon, sardines and tuna fish and other sources of omega 3 fatty acids while pregnant. Yet, other studies have show that women have to be careful about how much fish they eat, due to fish having high levels of mercury. (particularly swordfish and shark). What do you think of this new discovery? Would you be willing to eat fish to have a 'smarter' baby?

hey, crazynurse! I love fish so much...I think when i was pregnant i did eat fish too...I never knew that. Maybe you are right, my first daughter she's bilingual, she speaks English very well, and also speaks my mother tongue fluently...LOL...she just finish kindergarten, so far I see her normal not outrageously smart, but yes she is pretty good in remembering stuff, that's all i noticed.

My parents have always been telling me this throughout my entire life; we eat fish at least once a week and when I was a kid, I used to hate the taste & smell very much (except for salmon, of course), but I was convinced to continue eating it in hopes of getting smarter.
Now, I actually like the taste of fish. It doesn't feel as heavy to me as meat; I definitely prefer it to beef & pork (but poultry is still a favorite).
This also explains why Japan is such a technologically advanced and overall intelligent nation; the Japanese diet is mostly seafood.

Actually I made a point of eating fish at least twice a week when I was pregnant 40 years ago. We knew about back then in the stone ages and she turned out to be very smart/clever but heartless and cold as a fish that is why we are estranged.

I ate a lot of fish when I was pregnant wish my first son. With my second son I don't recall eating any fish at all when I was pregnant with him. Both of my boys are very smart. So I can't say if it was the fish or not. :P

I already eat fish. I don't see why I wouldn't why I was pregnant. The only problem that I could forsee is if it made me nauseous.

This is really legit? I thought that the whole fish thing was just a myth. If people started eating a lot of fish now, would it still make them smarter or do you have to start early as a baby?
