Do you lock your drawers?

A guardian for your drawers :p - Do you lock your drawers when you are not around?

We all have our personal drawers, both at home and in the workplace. When you leave home or workplace, we lock all doors and windows. However, do you lock your drawers too? I do not have the habit of locking my drawers either at home or at the workplace. I do see my colleagues locking theirs when they leave the office. Especially in my workplace, I see no reason to lock my drawers. There is nothing private and confidential as far as I am concerned. Talking about things being stolen, lol... there is nothing worth to be stolen in my workplace. We are not in retail sales and do not collect or keep cash in the workplace. Friends, do you lock your drawers when you are not there guarding it? Why? Or you have a kitty to guard it on your behalf. lol.

nope, no kitty, no locking. first of all, my drawers are full of office stationary and non-expensive personal grooming stuff haha. including sewing kits heh. too troublesome to lock. locking hints at valuables, or mistrust. also i fully trust my colleagues, even the cleaning aunty, who has become a real friend to us. which brings me to your next discussion.

I think this depends on who you're living or working with. In my case, i don't lock my drawers at home cause i have my own room and as far as I know, my parents don't enter my room when I'm not around so they won't get to see what my drawers have in it. But at work, I've heard a lot of stories about missing things like cellphones, iPods and some other personal stuff.. so i'm a bit paranoid that there's a klepto walking around in the office and so I lock my drawer and pedestal...

When I was working in Samoa I always locked my drawers for security reasons. I often leave my purse in there and maybe a personal letter I may have received that day or something like that. Staff members are forever looking for pens or ruler and such and they think that it's ok to go into other people's desk to look for things. It's just something they do.

I would agree that looking over the desk is fine, but opening people's drawers without permission, it is something I shake head.

I would definitely do it , whether it is at the workplace or in my personal office . Why should you take the risk of intruders getting acccess to your personal belongings ?

Hmmm... I hate to think that there will be intruders within the office? Shouldn't all colleagues be trusted?

I actually prefer to lock it - even in my own house. But the lock broke lol so I just had to make do.. meaning I don't lock it anymore. But no one enters my room without permission - not even when I am not in (I suppose though I won't know for sure) so it is ok. There isn't any gold inside anyway so I don't bother to hire a shrimp or 2 to patrol the place.

I see no reason to lock too, but people say I need to lock my drawers if there are important things.

yes i do now. before when i live alone i dont do that but when i moved in to a room that i have to share it with someone, i have to. when i go to school, i sometimes left some of my gadgets in the drawer. they're pretty valuable to me an i cant afford if someone would stole it.

I'm not working in the office, bighead. I have my personal drawer at home where I placed my important documents and a few cents of money. :P I actually don't need to lock it but it has been my habit to do so. If I have a maid around, then its time to lock my drawer. Its better to safeguard all my personal belongings that way.

I think you are correct, unless you are trying to hide something, there is no reason to lock your drawers at work. People should not have valuable items in the workplace, why would you? That is what your home is for.

I do not lock my drawers at home at all, even my personal drawers are not locked at home, but i am more picky in locking my drawers at job, uni or even the GYM, these are the places i am more concerned of stuff being stolen.

I use to lock my drawer at my workplace because its not safe to keep it open with all confidential documents in it....... if some papers move out or if some information goes to a third party then i would be questioned........

Actually no i dont lock my drawers at home! Koz there are nothing that special or SECRET to lock them! I dont work so i wont be able to answer this one! But i think your colleagues lock theirs maybe because they kept their personal things like wallet or mobile phone and girls can keep their personal girly things...
