Has anyone ever lost weight by being pregnant?

So, I've always been a little overweight. I excerised and ate right but nothing seemed to help! Then I got pregnant. I never had morning sickness so I didn't lose weight by puking. But up until my 7th month of pregnancy I didn't gain a pound! I was eating the extra 300 calories a day that you're supposed to and doing everything right. By the time I finally had my baby I had only gained 2 lbs. My doctor was worried that my baby was going to be very small and unhealthy. Well, he was 7 lbs 4 oz and very healthy. But I lost 25 lbs within my first week after giving birth! Has anyone else ever experiened this? Can anyone tell me why that happened? How can I change things for my next child so I don't have to worry about my baby?

I am over weight. I have had 3 babies and each time i lost weight during my pregnancies. My first one i didnt lose that mush becasue i had to deliver at 30 weeks due to pre-eclampsia. It had nothing to do with my weight loss. In fact my doctors said that as long as i was eating well and not straving myself of calories they werent concerened that i was losing weight and it is normal for woman who are heavier to gain littel or lose during pregnancy. During my second pregnancy i lost 25 pounds and then additional 20 after giving birth. the same with my last pregnancy both of my last 2 pregnancies were healthy and one weighed 7 lbs 15 oz and the other 8 lbs 8 oz The biggest problem i had with the weight loss is that once my hormones and metabolism went back to the pre preganancy way i gained all the weight back that i lost plus some each time. So i think that if you gave birth to heatlthy baby then i wouldnt worry too much about the weight gain just because are not gaining weight doesnt mean that your baby isnt. Good Luck and congradulations

I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one! Thank you for sharing your stories with me. And congrats on having 3 healthy babies! You must have had good doctors. I had people tell me that I must be starving my child or myself in order to not gain weight! Why would I do that? That's terrible!

Hee hee! I know what you are saying. I often tease my hubby that we should have another baby, just so I can lose another 30 lbs. :) I just wish I could be "pregnant" without being pregnant! LOL!

That's so funny! I tell my husband the same thing! I'm like, "well at least I'll be super skinny if we have another child!" Haha! But I don't think it'll happen twice, maybe if I'm lucky! :)

All three of my pregnancies were "textbook" babies. I did, however, lose at least 30 lbs. with each one. Assuming you aren't eating any more than you did before, you aren't adding extra calories to your body. your body, however is buring extra calories creating the baby. Since you are now buring more calories, you lose weight. I'm not a doctor, nurse, or have anything to do with the medical field. I don't know if this is fact, but it makes total sense to me. Don't fret over the weight loss. Eating healthy is the most important thing. If you are taking care of yourself, than your baby should be strong and healthy as well. :) Congratulations on your new bundle! I bet he was worth every pound lost!

Wit my first 3 I gained weight like mad then with my 4th I had a major case of morning sickness and only wanted to eat strawberries and drink things that had strawberries in it and were red. I couldent eat fastfood like McDonalds and I couldent be near any sodas cause they made me nautious. I firmly believe that because of that I lost weight during my pregnancy. My doctor didnt get too worried about it because I was doing it the right way and the healthy way. I didnt start gaining any weight till my 7th month. While I was loosing weight the baby was compinsating for it.

Thats the thing I never got any of those ODD cravings either. With my son I craved cotton candy and popsicles but not together. My oldest daughter was fruits and veggies, my middle daughter it was Cunkin Donuts Coffee Coolattas and then peanutbutter cups, my youngest like I said above was strawberries or strawberrie and banana flavored drinks and they had to be red or pink in color.

Pregnancy seems to get ourselves in gear and eat healthier! Well, for some woman! My sister was the opposite of you. She started craving McDonald's cheeseburgers with her first two pregnancies. She doesn't eat McDonald's normally but for some reason she really wanted them when pregnant! Fruit was something I really liked when pregnant, but I liked fruit anyway. I was kinda dissapointed I didn't have any cravings! I wanted one of the weird ones that some women get...just because it would be fun...you know the whole pickles and ice cream thing! :)

Yeah, it was news to me too! My doctor had me so scared that my baby wouldn't be okay. It's amazing how all pregnancies can be so vastly different.

my first time I gained 45 pounds! My second I actually lost 10. I had hypermesis and was hospitalized for it. I was sick about 8 1/2 months of my pregnancy. I think I would've rather gained the weight. But that is how it happened. Hopefully with this one, I will gain the normal amount =)

I haven't heard of hypermesis. I just looked it up. I am so sorry you had to go through that! That must have been awful! Good Luck with this next one! I hope you're not nearly as sick as you were with your last one.
