Three dogs - is that too many?

They are small dogs, mini-dachshunds, and they don't make much of a mess. There are three people in our family (that live at home), so each one of us has a dog. But my mother-in-law says that's too many, that we just need 1 dog for the whole family! Of course, she's not a pet person, and doesn't like dogs very much and cats not at all.

No I don't believe so. It is up to you as long as you can properly care for them, feed, love, grooming & vet care. Enjoy them

three small dogs are not to much- now if the were great danes then - yes that might be a bit much- but so long as they are clena- happy - fed and well kept- there is no problem. I think its great I would have 10 dogs if my house were bigger. Don't listen to your mother in law, I don't listen to mine...lol

HELL NO!!! 3 is not enough!!! LOL When I lived in Arizona we had 15 dogs. All BIG dogs!! Its not how many you have its how you take care of them. If you can take care of more than one or two go for it. If you have time for more than one go for it. Right now I have 2 dogs who weigh 50+ lbs each!! We live in a trailer and I have two children plus I watch two more. As long as everyone gets along and is fed, I dont see a problem. Tell your mother in law to but out!!! Shes not the one taking care of it.

No, I don't think that three dogs are too many as long as you are able to properly care for these animals.
We have a total of four dogs in our home. We have two German Shepards mixed, a Brittany Spaniel, and an Irish Setter mix. They are all medium to large size dogs. We love our dogs very much and make sure that each dog gets the proper care that she or he needs. We have a large backyard for them to run around in as well.

No, three is not too many. At one point I had four dogs, all larger breeds; golden retriever, husky, lab mix, german shepard rottwiler mix. The only time I think someone will have too many dogs (or any kind of pets) is when they can not take care of them all...otherwise you can never have too many! :)

As long as you can afford to feed and provide proper veterinary care, and are able to give the dogs the attention they need, three is a good number. My daughter has 5 dogs, and they are one big happy family. She has a big fenced in yard for them to run around in, and she takes turns taking them out for walks and rides in the car. I've only got one dog, but I would like to have more.
