When Im at home I want my music loud but here in the boarding house I just want it at levels where Im the only one who can hear it. We have a very strict land lady and dont want to be reprimanded by the land lady. Only when she is out and not around will I find the courage to make the music louder.

Wherever I am, I will make sure I tune my music volume to the lowest audible, lowest possible. I still want my hearing, you know?
It does not good to spoil your ears by blasting them with loud music. So as long as I can hear the music fine, that volume is right enough for me.
I don't believe in turning up the volume - that's plain stupid.:P

Different times different volume. Different types of music, different level of sound, so it depends on several factors.

Hello, zelmarq, when i am listening musics at home,i prefer to turn it on a low volume,i like soft musics,i think it may be a kind of disturbance.I do not want to affect other people just because of the musics i am listening to.Also i will listen to the music at the night time when my neighbours have gone to sleep,i am afraid i will be complained by them if i turned the volume too high.

Yes, for me it would depend on the tme of the day. I know my housemates loves to listen to praise and worship songs so i try to bring it to a level where they can also hear but not too loud.

I like my music at a reasonable level. I think if it's too loud than it is harder to enjoy the music. If it's too loud than it just starts sounding like noise...not music.

Well, once I'm in my own home, I will probably listen to it a bit louder than now but unless I'm in the mood for dance music, I don't want it too loud. I have sensitive hearing and loud music tends to bother my ears. I'm like your landlady here where I am at the moment and make my neighbors keep things down. They have learned that they will either keep it down or I will call the police because this place has no insulation and if one person turns up their tv or stereo, it causes the person next to them to do so and it serves as a ripple effect and I'm caught in the middle. So, I just keep them all quiet. Of course, it helps that I work as a desk clerk here and I have enough authority to enforce it.
I'll be glad when I'm in my own home and don't have to think about it.

yes, I agree with you its nice to listen to cool music and one that is not too loud for it would sound like noise than once soothing to the ears and not good to listen too.

hi zelmarq. personally, music should be listened to in a moderate volume. studies have shown that risks, such as heart attack appeared to be related to HOW LOUD rather than how annoying the noise was. one explanation is because the noise increases psychological stress and anger, leading to physiological changes in the body such as increased levels of adrenaline and noradrenaline, which are associated with increased blood pressure. further the range of safety level for our ears is about 65-75 decibels (unit of sound)and more than this would be hazardous.
so loud noises are not only bad to your ears but also bad to your heart.

Hi Zelmarq!!
I usually hear music at high level to give some work to my blasting woofers..
If i am with my friends or in partying mood i used to blast all my neighbors ears..When i am alone or in doing some important things i used to hear it in a low level..
Good luck!!

Im a music lover, name the song and i can name the artist and vice versa hu! Anyway, during sunday i would turn on the volume of my home theater into 3/4 of its decibel. Resting down in my hammock, listening to my favorite music.

When I work we used to listen to music enough for us to hear the melody of the song.
It's quite nice to hear music in a low sound.
