She got it today! She decided she wanted it. I'm so happy for her,and also scared. I am going to make sure she always has her cell phone with her, but what else should we make sure she always has in her car. Like in the winter time a blanket....things like that. I'd appreciate all ideas you have!

Woohoooo! Good for your daughter! Now tell everyone you know to stay off of the sidewalks! (Just kidding LOL) Definitely make sure that she has a set of jumper cables and a small box of tools in the trunk. Even if she doesn't know how to set up the cables, more than likely there will be someone around that does. I think a blanket should be kept in the car at all times, not just winter, just in case something happens at night. And a gallon jug of water for long trips. My dad always made me keep that stuff in the car when I was younger, and it all came in handy. Oh, and one more thing. Make sure that the jack and the lug wrench are actually the ones for that car. The one in my car doesn't even work for mine or for the rims I have on it, so hubby always has to grab the one from his dad's to change tires on my car.

Funny...sidwalks...our town is so small we don't have sidewalks...I didn't have jumper cables even enter my mind. What a great idea. I haven't checked the jack, but you can be sure I will before she drives again. Thanks for all the good ideas...(I guess you have one every once in awhile...LOL)

Don't freak her out by making her take too much though, she'll just worry, also make sure she keeps her mobile off out of reach while she's driving, only coz they're a major distraction for drivers & cause so many accidents when people are yakking away not paying attention to what they should be doing.
I'd reccomend she just makes sure she has the necessities - spare tyre, jack (make sure she knows how to change a tyre too), a spare key ON her, general stuff like that is the best way to go!

I never thought of that...she could get freaked out. Also good idea about the cell phone...but she has one that is pay as you go so she doesn't really talk very much on it. Believe it or not, everybody has to take driver's education in order to graduate from our high school. And to pass driver's education, everybody has to be able to change a tire on the driver's ed. car. So she has already changed a tire.
