When you were a youngster..do you remember playing with paper airplanes?? Were you able to fold them so that they would take flight?? Did you squeal in delight when it flew high and straight??? My son loves paper airplanes...many evenings I get the pleasure of making 4-5 of them for him and my grandchildren... Did you play with paper airplanes when you were younger??

Yes I did. When I was younger, I do play with paper aeroplanes. I enjoyed making them from paper and throwing them around. It seemed so cool then. I remember once that in my school, a group of people even formed a paper airplane club (unofficial) and they stayed back after school to experiment with throwing planes. They also made many variations of planes and I think they are budding scientists and inventors in the making. :)

We were actually encouraged to make them at school, we had a science lesson, but the poor teacher couldn't control the class and it went to pot! With paper planes flying everywhere for the whole 40 minute lesson! It was fun but the poor teacher didn't think so, he didn't try that experiment again. I wasn't into planes I loved trains more

My son like paper airplanes...he is only 5....but I sound him an antique trainset...still in the box...and have it put up for him when gets older...I believe it was made in 1972...so by the time he gets old enough to appreciate it...it should have been a quite nice investment.... Thanks, my dear friend....

I think making and playing paper airplanes was one of the most endearing childhood memory I had. And so does everybody else. Paper airplane making is still popular with some kids today though everything is now taken over by new technologies in games. Playing paper planes evoked on my part that sense of hope to someday soar againts the forces of the wind and height. How I wish to be a child again!

As a child I loved to play with the paper airplanes that my brothers would make for me. The planes I made never seemed to fly that well so I always got my brothers to make them for me. My children have asked me to make them planes before and I admit that I have tried but my planes don't fly that well. So they have learned to ask their father to make them instead of me. LOL I do enjoy watching them fly their planes because our one year old dog loves to catch anything flying in the air. Its cute to watch the children try to save their planes from her.

I tried to play with paper airplanes when I was young, however I am a little technically challenged. The planes I used to make would never fly and looked more like a paper ball than an actual plane. :( Luckily my kids are more gifted in this area. :) cheers,

Yeah when I was in elementary school it was really in and we would make them at school all the time! I was never any good at it though and mines did not fly as well as the ones from my friends. I think I will look up instructions now on the internet and try one more time for old time's sake hehe And I may just look up the helicopter one too ... I love a challenge hehe. Thanks for reminding me about this childhood memory! Rated +.

That is good yeah that is a good age for these activities and they are good. It is nice that kids are interested in these things at a young age. If they learn to make the more complicated ones than they probably will grow-up to be pretty smart :-D I found a great site with many designs and great instructions. It allowed me to make a good one that flies straight. They also teach you the helicopter. Here it is: http://www.paperairplanes.co.uk/heliplan.php And I have not gone anywhere, just have been lurking and I have now decided that I may start to post a bit more now :-D I am flattered you missed me though ;-) Rated +.

I never did when I was younger, except to make flying darts, a streamlined plane with a weight at the tip. Now, I actually do a lot more of that. With four kids, there's always a competition of some sort with the planes. I picked up a book on paper airplanes at a used book store and the kids love it. My boy (6) made one that curved straight up and hit the ceiling of a gym (for boy scouts). Too bad it got caught on something, and he doesn't remember how he folded it. Not surprising, his was the highest.
