Do you hold back your TEARS?

When you cry, do you hold back your tears? - A picture of sad girl crying with tears in her eyes. Taken with permission from http://farm1.static.flickr.com/136/327861820_4a64e1b928.jpg?v=0 .

We all wish that life would be a bed of roses. Roses without the thorns, of course. But sometimes, things do happen (whether for a reason or not) and we experience defeats, failures or tragedies. The natural body reaction to all these sad events is to cry. Yet do you CRY? Are you one who would let your tears run freely, come what may? Or are you one who tries to put up a brave front and hold back your tears? Or are you one who wavers in between and ends up sobbing instead? Or are you one who has no tears or run out of tears long ago? Or... ? Do share your thoughts.:D

It truly depends on the situation I am in. If I am upset and in a large group of people, I will walk away so that no one sees me cry. If it is family or close firends, than I let them see. I can't control it then. BUT, I tend to cry when I get very very angry. I think it actually keeps me from actually hurting someone physically. So I always tell people, if I get angry and you see me cry... run !! I don't know the reason why I cry when I am angry, but only when I am seething mad do I cry out of anger. Then I don't really care who sees.

Hello, wizard, you are so early today.:) I remembers i had cried when i knew my exboyfriend cheated me long times ago,i was really sad becasue i trusted him 100% but end up being deceived by him. After letting my tears ran down,i felt much better as i had released the unhappiness,i think people should not hold their tears if they want to cry, just hide somewhere and cry and you will be fine soon.

Yea, a bit earlier than usual. Just feel like working harder since I am broke. :/ And don't you remember the old adage that guys are not trustworthy? :P Take it as a learning experience, I guess. After all, you are still "young".:P And yes, after crying, you will usually feel much better.

I am not much of a crying person. I never used to cry before. Actually before I never used to get affected by anything. I never cared about anything at all. Since last year, the changes in the realtions with my family and the dcoming of my beloved into my life has changed me completely now. I do cry now and then... But only I can never show off. I cry alone or infront of my beloved. I feel she knows me and understands me. Sometimes I just laugh out all my tears and try to be strong. Right now I am feeling quite weak but I don't know what to do. I can't even turn to my beloved for now, due to some reasons. Life is really not always a bed of roses, but the thorns as well. It hurts most when you get pricked by your own beloved roses and not thorns. Never to stop living, thats what I have planned. I will never give up and thinking this one thing gives me strength to carry on. Any ways Take Care May GOD Bless YOU

me, i let my tears run down my face..I am a very sensitive person, but letting my tears just fall down my face doesnt mean my cowardness, still there is a braveness on me,depending on a situation.

Hey wizard, this is really a hard question for me because I really don't know what category I fall into on this subject. When I was younger I know I always put up a tough fight. I could get a beating without shedding a tear until I got out of sight. After I got pregnant with my first I started crying at a drop of a hat. Since then I have had a harder time holding back the tears. I will cry quite freely but I have to be in a comfortable setting or the tears will flow but no one will really know I am crying. I know strange! LOL :)

"Life is not a bed of roses" says a famous saying..then is life a bed of thorns? No that is also not true.Well..Life according to me is a bed of roses and roses obviously come with thorns. That is a fact.Hence life comprises of happy as well as sad moments. If there were no sad moments..the importance of happy moments couldn't be realized. I don't control my tears and emotions. I allow it to burst and then i am free of sadness.

Roses usually have thorns so the person who came up with the saying that life is a bed of roses might not be too familiar with the flower.:P And yes, I understand what you mean regarding the contrasting.

I tell you Wizzy, I do cry when I am stressed out..it releases stress for me, but last night I was so tired, I didn't even have the energy to cry..I was crying from the inside..I know a good remedy though for acute stress, a decent night's sleep and that is what I had, seven hours solid..even though I was dreaming all night..I sometimes feel like a failure..but I can't give up..I have to battle on..There is no other way..If I give up, I might aswell roll over and die..So today is another day and I am doing something positive to keep away the blues, responding to your discussion lol.

i hold back my tears most of the time because in my opinion it shows my weakness or in other words it tells i m not able to cope with a particular problem..but i do cry when in alone so to get off the load from my mind;)it's healthy doing so from time to time and gives one an afresh energy to go on...

I cry very easily and always have. It is not an option for me to hold back my tears. They flow when they wish and once they start there is no stopping them. I cry often, I guess it is just a way that my body deals with stress and the problems of life. I don't think crying is something that we should hold back or be ashamed of. It sometimes helps to aid in feeling better after a good cry. I do try to cry in private as I know a lot of people are not comfortable around someones tears. (namely men) LOL

Although I hate others see my tears. But sometimes I have to say that it's too hard to hold back my tears. It's just like the flood:) So usually if I feel like crying, I will try to go to the bathroom to be alone.

I dont like crying in front of others. I feel it is a cowardly behavior. Sometimes I will cry for only a little thing. I'm a sensitive girl, I often cry for someone in a TV movie.

I'm the type that "tries" to hold back tears.. but always does so unsuccessfully. However, I don't bawl or sob in front of other people. Probably, i'll let loose one or two tears when nobody's looking. :) Shy shy like that.

I am a crying baby a long, long time ago.Until just this year.I guess, i dont have much tears in my eyes.I guess, my tears was already dry because of the pain and a lot of agony that i encountered. Crying makes me weak.I feel pity and down.Though it heals me,but im sure,i am the way i am before.

i am the type of person who always chokes back tears and never lets themself cry. i can't allow myself to cry...especially not in front of anyone. i have to keep the status of being a rock. i can't let anyone see that sometimes water can be squeexed from that rock.

My way of shedding tears differs from the situation iam into.If any of my family members shouts at me , i will shed tears in front of them. But most times if i have some tussle with my friends i like to cry alone silently. Tears is a way to express our sorrows. There are times i have hold back my tears to show that iam not a person who cried for everything and weep later alone. But i like to hold tears as shedding tears in front of others makes us weak.

For me it all depends on the time and the place! If I am at home at times when I begin to feel sorry for myself…lol…If my kids are around I hold back my tears, because I don’t want to upset them. When my kids are asleep, I weep like a baby…lol…. If I am in an argument and I get really ticked off, although I am yelling and screaming at the other person, my tears would just be streaming down my cheeks. I hate it! It makes me seem weak…lol.. Other times when I happen to do something to accidentally hurt myself in a public setting like tripping on a rock or walking into a door. I usually just pretend like I am okay and walk away. Then the minute I turn that corner and see no one around…I begin to cry from the pain and embarrassment!
