Is that true? That when you remove the skin of Onion and soak it in water for time you will have no tears when cutting onions? I haven't try it well. For me when cutting an onion i will turn-off the electric-fan then i will cut it slowly so that i don't have tears.

When onion cells are broken by the knife during cutting, a compound known as propanethial-S-oxide is released in fine droplets. When these hit your eyes or nose, it dissolves into sulphuric acid, which then irritates your organs. That's why you tear. How to prevent this? Some advice here: http://members.aol.com/stevef88/discuss/onions.htm
But I think an easy practical way you can try is to place the unpeeled onion in the freezer for about 10 minutes, then remove the onion from the freezer and peel it. You should be able to slice or chop it without tearing. Try this and let us know if it works.
