A course of study in which students study at home, receiving and sending off work by post, email etc is correspondence course whereas in a regular course students attends schools or collages. The evolution of correspondence course is not age old. It is mainly developed for those who can't attend schools or collages for different reasons.
Hence most of the employed people take advantage of it and are call it distance education.
But don't you think that interactions between students and teachers are essential for effective educations. There is a saying that a little knowledge is dangerous thing. It is only a regular course which can avail us of quality education.
What do u think?

I have taken a correspondence class of sorts...it was all on a CD-ROM and the tests were sent via Internet to the instructor....I had several email conversations with her and she was always prompt with responses....I enjoyed being able to take care of my child all day then study at my leisure...there was a time limit for completion and I easily graduated that class several months before the time limit and then had t go and sit for state board certified test before receiving my licence...I would recommend it to anyone who has the self discipline to complete assignments without having someone sanding over my head...

I have actually done both when i was working fulltime in New Zealand and in Samoa. I did a correspondence course for 2 and 1/2 years but had to go in for six weeks each semester for classroom interaction and things like that. I quite enjoyed the correspondence because I was able to do it at my own time while still working full time.
I also attended courses part-time after work while in Samoa and that was for two days a week for two hours each time. Was just enough for me to handle while working and taking care of my son as well.
Both provide quality education and its really nice that it is offered either way for those who cannot study full time and there are options for them to choose from.
I also found studying as a adult student was more enjoyable than when I went to school way back in the days LOL
