How do you save money?

I save all of my change & when the jug is full I take it to the bank. I use it to buy a half of a half of beef. For those who don't know that means 1/8 of the front & 1/8 of the back. I didn't know the first time either.
When I can I also save $1 bills just like with change. That is our emergency fund if I run low on cash before payday & towards a vacation. It's amazing how fast it adds up & how much less money you spend when you don't carry them around with you. I'm less likely to break a larger bill for something I don't need then if I carry small bills.

I collect pennies and put them in jar. Then I put all my other change in a seperate jar and that's how I save money. There's been a lot of times when i've run out of money those jars have helped me a lot.

I separate out my quarters, then the rest of the change goes in one jar. Dollar bills go in another container. I also allow my self so much money to spend on whatever. If at the end of the month I still have any left it goes in the container with the dollar bills. I'm pretty good about have a lot of it left unless something comes up.

Yeah there is always a time for me that comes up where I have to borrow some money from my jar. It's like my own little bank account.

I also keep a coin jar, i put in any coins i find around the house, in clothing etc. In fact i have just found a load of coins now, i am putting them in my jar now. Using a coin jar or piggy bank is a very good way to save up money, because you put the money in there and then forget about it. I never go back and check my money jar for loose change or the odd pound coin.

My husband and I both have change jars. We are constantly adding our change to them and when they are full, we take them to the bank. They have a free change machine there and all we have to do is bring the change there to turn it into cash. We will probably do this at the end of the summer right before we leave for vacation so we have some extra spending money.

I immediately put $500 or $1000 on unit trusts and be stingy with myself for the rest of the month. Saving is the best way to become rich but investing what you save is even better.
