Apparently Congress thinks a 14% Approval Rating is Worth a Raise

The pompous suits in Washington have a lot of nerve. The Pelosi/Reid Congress are not only wasting time getting absolutely nothing accomplished, they figure they should get more money for it.
I think everyone participating in these discussions or playing games while at work should demand raises. After all, you're wasting time just as competently as Congress is. ;~D

Isn't it lovely to see where the working man's or woman's tax dollars are going towards. I wish I could sit around all freaking day without really lifting a finger and demand a raise. Oh wait that would be kind of hard to do since I work for myself, hmm will have to have a talk with myself later about said raise..lol
It just really ticks me off that while the common person slaves away basically, than you have the morons in congress that hardly do a dang thing getting richer and richer from doing nothing but basically sitting on their butts.

You employers are all alike! Give that employee of yours a raise man! ;~D
What gets me is someone in Congress defended it by saying, "now that we raised minimum wage, it's ok". The problem is, the increase in minimum wage hasn't been passed!

Lol! If I could give myself a raise I would do it. I've spent many hours slaving away at my work and think I deserve it, but how can I when most of it leaves any way to go towards taxes and apparently paying for a lifestyle I may never see in my lifetime.
A raise in minimum raise, what a joke. If it ever does pass most of those that would have benefited from it will be retired and fighting with the system to get their disability and social security checks.

nothing surprises me. they do nothing and want more. It's amazing how they keep cutting programs but yet keep giving themselves raises.

I likely have around a 75-80% approval rate at work and can't get a raise. Where do I apply for a job where I can sit and play solitare on a government issued computer, lie my butt off to anyone who will liten, sleep during meeting, have the taxpayers pay for everything, and generally do nothing for months at a time? And that is just the ones that show up for work occassionally.
We the people need to step up and call the entire government out. From the President on down to our local garbage officials. We are supposed to have a voice let's use it.

The only problem is that all of the rest of us don't have the power to actually grant ourselves a raise!
I suppose if I had that power I'd give myself a raise, too. But I would be earning it! I can't stand to not do what needs to be done.
Shouldn't the public have a say in whether or not the legislature and administrative government employees get raisies? Bet that proposal wouldn't even get to committee in Washington.

We all have the power to give ourselves raises... we just have to post more on MyLot. ;~D
You're right, no committee would get past a good laugh over a bill like that.

Agreed. The Housemembers work for the people in their district and the Senators work for their states. So members should have to go there for raises!

I think all this negativity towards are government could have a positive effect on our country. I am hoping because of the tremendous disapproval we are experiencing as a country towards our "government" it will lead to an elevated number of people showing up to the polls come election time, especially college students. Being a student myself it drives me nuts to hear my peers complain about their government officials, then not show up when our message can be heard loudest in a little makeshift booth with a curtain in front.

Yup, hopefully the voters in both parties will be mad enough to actually do something about it this time.

I think you are missing something here. The Pelosi/Reed Congress should get a raise. Yes a raise on a fork lift. That's a little humor that my husband likes to say. He used to drive forklifts back in the day, but I do kind of like that Congress doesn't do anything. You know people are always gripping and complaining that there is too much bickering and complaining in government these days, but I kinda like it. First of all, it gives me something to respond to. Nothing like stupid Dems saying stupid things to create a topic for me. Second of all, as long as congress is tied up not doing anything, congress can't infringe on our liberties. No bill is a good thing.
