We just moved into the house we are renting about a month ago. In the neighboorhood we live in there are a ton of squirrels, and they seem to be very street smart. Every morning I go out to feed the stray cat that I took to feeding, and there is a squirrel in the tree right in the front yard. It is always there and always barking at the cat, as if to say "leave my tree alone!". I came home from the grocery store yesterday, and in the back yard I have a pet kennel for my daschunds. They were in the house with my son at this time, so the kennel was empty. I saw something moving around in the kennel and walked over to get a better view. There inside the dog kennel was a small squirrel, eating left over dog food, and then rolling around. Here came another squirrel, this one climbed up on top of the kennel from the outside. They started playing tag, one inside the kennel, one outside the kennel. I had my son get the camera, but lo and behold, my batteries were dead and I didn't have any replacements! But, we enjoyed their antics, my son and I, for a good half hour. Finally they must have grown tired of the game, because they wandered up the tree that the kennel is under. Now it has been raining and I have not seen them again, but I did buy new batteries for my camera in hopes that they would come play again. I love all little creatures, and enjoy watching the antics of wildlife creatures. How about everyone else? I know there are a lot of people that don't like squirrels because they eat their plants, or their bird feed, but I really enjoy them.

I like squirrels. We had a pair of them outside one of the places I worked. They would come to the window and stand with their little feet on the glass to get our attention. We had a little bag of food that we would get into for them every day.
If you really want them to come, find a windowsill or something outside where the dogs can't get to. Put some food there every day. Once they figure out you are feeding them and not hurting them, they'll come back around.
If you have dry dog food, try putting that out.

That is too cute. I hope you get a picture so we can all see them. I love to watch them. I know I have one that loves to tease my cat. We have a tree outside our bedroom window and the squirrel loves to is in that tree and it just flicks it tail like telling my cat here I am and you can't catch my tail. It freaks my cat out*L* I love to sit and watch it. My cat deserves it because she thinks everything belongs to her*L* I also love that commercial where the one runs across the street and high fives the other one. I swear they really do that!

I know, I love that commercial, too. I think they do tag team on a lot of things. I am hoping to get a picture, too, so that I can post it on here. My son has been playing with friends in the back yard this weekend and I have not see the squirrels again.

I also love watching squirrels. For a while I used to buy 5lb. bags of unsalted peanuts to entice them to my back deck. At night I would hide the nuts in various nooks and crannies and watch them look for them in the morning. Most days they would find them all. I lightened up feeding them when I discovered that they we hiding excess peanuts. They were burying them in the flower pots that I had on the deck. I have a great picture of a baby squirrel that I took while it was visiting. I have posted it in my profile.

They do tend to ferret away food for later on. I will have to look at the picture of the baby squirrel, I think they are all cute.
