So i've been thinking of getting a tattoo, but i'm not too sure. I've always told myself, if i ever do get one, it's got to be one that's right for me!
So i ask my fellow Mylotters - getting a Tattoo, is it good, bad, or ugly?
what's a good design/theme to go for?

i think it looks good, i had before at my lower back..its a wire that has heart in the center, i'd prefer tattoes that you'd hide, coz i think it will look decent, but some find it cute though if you show it.

I wish it was that easy! It's a life decision that i've got to really consider, especially with the meaning behind it and all!

I personally would never get a tattoo done. There are lots of side effects, like if it does not suit your skin, it's difficult to remove it. Also you have to take great care once you get it done, like you don't have to expose that part in the sun. If you wish to get a tattoo done i would reccomend a dragon on the back :)

Cool! That would be kind of nice on you. But why a dragon on my back??!?!?!

Whooops!! Accidently replied to the wrong post.
I didn't know you had to do so much to care for the tattoo! Hmm...but i'm sure after awhile, it becomes a part of you?
Why a Dragon on my back?

hmm ya tattoos have side effects like some may cause diseases to your skin if not suitable and it may also burn etc. but having a tattoo is kind of cool , if i would give my opinion i would say get it on ur shoulder it looks cool there :)

Diseases? Really? I've never heard about that! Hmm...that makes me reconsider a bit about this choice.
On my shoulder, huh? any suggestions of anything in particular?

I love the look of good tattoos. I think you should put a lot of thought into the design though. Chose something that really says something about/too you. And if you can at least help design in. I like tattoos that have a story behind them, that way when someone asks you why you got it you can say what it means to you instead of just It's was cool or something. But that's just me.
Make sure you go to a reputable shop too so you avoid all the problems that can come from dealing with a dirty shop.

Yeah - i don't want to just get any plain ol tattoo. I want something that means something, and like you said, something that tells a story instead.
Kind of like the Rock's Tattoo on his arm, but not that big or with as much detail.
Thanks for your suggestion!

POTC?!!? WHat's that?
Sparrow? Sunrise? Why's that? I've always thought you need to have a good back for a tattoo like that!

I have 3 tattoos, with 2 more coming soon.
As for a design/theme, think seriously about what it is that you really like. Then go from there. Don't pick anything that is necessarily trendy at the time, as those are most likely to become regrets. When you do finally decide on something, if you decide to have more work done then I'd say to get something with a common design. By this, I mean that if your first tattoo is something tribal, it's best to stick with tribal-type designs for your other tattoos. This is just my personal opinion, since I'm not a fan of "mixed genres" when it comes to tattoos, lol. I personally love the old school / new school designs. Traditional tattoo designs with bright colors.

Wow! You must really love the tatts!
I am thinking of something along the lines of a tribal thing - but nothing too complicated that doesn't mean much.
What's the old school/new school designs?

More tribal yet girly? Have you found one like that yet?
Yeah, tattoos on girls are hot - but they've got to be the right kind. One of my ex's had a lizard...no wait, the outline of a lizard...go figure.
Thanks for your response!

I think it depends on what the tatt means to you? Are you impulsive or have you wanted a tatt for a long time?

I do not like tattoos, no not really. I do not have one and I do not want to get one. One can get infections from the needles, so one better watch out. Tattoos remind me of old men who have been in jail. And they look really ugly when one is old. They do not look the way they did when they were made. Skin gets saggy and wrinkled and that makes the tattoos look really strange and funny.

that is something that i've seriously considered. I mean, i'm not going to have bulging muscles, but if i ever do decide to get them, well, they'd stretch and they would look all funny.
Thanks for your response!!

Dragons? The Asian kind or the European ones?
Goth theme, eh? A bit of old school can't go wrong!

tattoo is a way of expressing your individuality. but you should know what you're getting into for there are risk involve such as unsterile equipment and needles, allergic reactios, removal problems when you don't want it anymore. and many more problems., most of them medical. and if your doctor orders for Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), there can be complicatios.

Tattoos can be all three. make sure you go tp a good artist and if possible get UV resistant ink, particularly if you are having colourts at the red end of the spectrum on areas exposed to regular sunlight. Over time sunlight will blur the edge of a tattoo but a higher quality job will last longer.
As for disease make sure that the needles are autoclaved, they will come sealed in a brown bag with blck markings on it. This means that they are sterile. Design, location and size are also important. Talk to the artists. If they are not interested go to another one.
