While I have heard many horror stories from people who had bad experiences with online services but my experience has been almost entirely positive. While I don't check the sites any more (I found my partner of 4 years through one site) I know several people who have had wonderful experiences. My brother recently married a woman he met online and I think he is really happy.

I met my husband on an online dating service. Stangely enough we grew up in the same town but had never met before that. We will have been married a year the 22nd of July and together 3 years on August 23. Before we met I had just altered my dating profile to be so specific in what I was looking for I had even entered a prefered height range and shortly after I met my husband, and he fit every specification I had listed. I think dating services are a great way for people to meet.

I agree, it seems to be a great way to meet people that you would never have an opportunity to meet otherwise. My partner was actually on the West Coast when we started corresponding.

I actually met my husband at a online dating site. We emailed for about 4 weeks and when we finally it was love at first sight. We were married less than a year later. He is definitely my soulmate.
