I'm a member of a parenting forum and the Diva Cup has been all the talk lately. It's a natural alternative to a pad or tampon and it's environmentally friendly. I've heard nothing but good things about them so I took the plunge and bought one off of Ebay. They normally sell for $35 but I got one brand new for $24.99 plus free shipping which is pretty good. One lasts for about 10 years so i'm sure I will save a bunch of money. You could go to there website if you want to learn more about them...

Have you ever heard of them (they are new to me) and have you ever used one... What was your experience with it?

It's an investment. It costs a lot to begin with but you will save money in the long run.

I got it! It looks rather large so i'm pretty nervous. I just have to wait for good, old AF to give it a try.

I freak out just from tampons, so I don't think I'll be trying this one ladies. Every time I have tried to use a tampon I nearly faint because I over worry about toxic shock syndrome, and I cant stand the feeling of something cottony being in there.
Let me know how it works if you all try it though. I might have some friends that would be interested.

LOL. My mom hates tampons too! I actully prefer tampons because I hate the diaper feeling that pads give you. I also hate to be tied down for 1 week in the month (especially in the Summer). I tried the cup for the first time today (see above post) and I like it! I highly recommend it!

I never heard of it, but after I read your discussion, I made some research on it. Seems like people who are using it, like it a lot.
But the think for me, is that you have to you have to empty the little cup. It's hard to do it in a public washroom.
I'M not sure I will try it.
But I'm proud to read that this is a canadian product lol

I heard about it for the first time last year and I did a lot of research before I took the plunge and decided to buy one. Apparently you only have to "rinse" the cup once every 12 hours so morning and before bed should be good enough. You shouldn't have to "rinse" it while you are out unless you plan to be out for more then 12 hours at a time.

Diva cup? I've never heard of it, until now that I've read your post. Sounds expensive and interesting. Just looking at that site, and reading about it, it's something I could surley use, but unfortunatly they don't sell it in my city. I hate that diper feeling, for now I may settle with tampons but that divacup sounds like what I need.

They don't sell it in my City either so I bought it off of Ebay. It IS pretty expensive but you only need one and it lasts for 10 years so in the end you are saving money.

Meli I didnt know what the heck you were talking bout until you pulled that thing out of the nice little cover it comes in. I thought it was the top to a bottle LMAO!
Anywayz after I seen and read all about it (through you & the internet) I have decided this: Im going to let you try it first to see how it works for you then if everything goes good Ima order one for myself BUT if it doesnt work for you im not getting it. So expect me to be asking some questions to you sometime soon lol

Well, I got my period today and I tried out my cup. It was a little hard to get in at first but I expected that since i've never used one before but once it was in I didn't feel a thing and I didn't leak at all. I emptied it and put it in the 2nd time and it was much easier to put in. So far, so good. I recommend it!

melissa-
I'm glad you got to try it out. I'm glad it's working for you! I'm still scared of it though. It looks really big in the picture. By chance, did you ask a doctor about using it before doing so? I'm just curious if you did, and if so what did they say about it.
Thanks for sharing!

Hello Gus. I'm sorry for the late response. I haven't been around Mylot lately. I didn't ask a Dr. but I did a lot of research on the Divacup online and it's pretty safe. I don't have a hard time putting it in but I do have a hard time putting it in correctly. It's a learning process and i'm still learning (on 2nd cycle with it). LOL. I get it in no problem but then I have leaks so I must be doing something wrong.

I just tried the Diva Cup and am a fan. It was recommended to me by my Mayan Abdominal Massage Therapist. I went online and did a bit of research before I ordered it. I was a bit wary at first. People online said the Diva cup had quite a learning curve and it takes a few months to get good at using it and avoiding leaks. So far I haven't had any problems. I found it easy to insert, didn't need to trim the stem and haven't had any leaks.
