Would you want to go skydiving?

I've seen skydiving on television and films. I am amazed on how these skydivers do all those stuff while floating in the air. I've also seen some accidents while skydiving. Skydiving is a very dangerous sport.
If given a chance, I would try skydiving. I really would want to know how it feels falling from the sky.
Would you go skydiving even if the risks are great?

Sky diving is one of the things on the list of what I definitely do not want to try. I know why, it is because I do not like to be out of control. Along with skydiving, you can list bungee jumping, parasailing, hang gliding and roller coasters. There are probably more things than that, they have just left my mind. All of them seem to involve going at a great rate of speed, up in the air, out of control. Not for me, no way, I am positive of that. Now little cable car airlift rides are fine, they feel very controlled, you are enclosed, you go where the cable goes and you move slowly enough to catch your breath. I guess you can just say I am a big coward.

I agree with you Garden about not wanting to skydive or bungy jumping. There is no way that I will do either of those, even if someone paid me. I would rather be on the ground and be safe. Parasailing I may be willing to try and already have been on roller coasters many times. Hang gliding would not be for me either. They all have risks but some seem to be greater than others.

I actually went skydiving about 4 years ago. It was the most amazing feeling ever free falling. There are just no words to describe the adrenaline rush you get. And the crazy thing is that I got myself so pumped up to do it that I never got scared. The only time I remember getting freaked out is when I saw the door to the plane open and knew my turn was coming up. But as I was standing on the edge of the plane getting ready to jump I just let go and knew everything would be ok with my instructor strapped to me. And once the chute was pulled it's just so exhilirating gliding to the ground and being able to see everything around you from that high up in the sky. For me at that time it was well worth the risk.

I love your photos! It is an accident that your comment landed right after mine, and I just wanted to add that what you did sounds wonderful and that my comment was not meant in any way to imply that your skydiving was about getting attention. I think you made your jump for all the right reasons. I am curious about the instructor being strapped to you--is that something you are required to do the first time you sky dive as part of the training? Or did you have a choice?

I am 46 years old and I have never even been in a plane...so NO, I would not like this activity....
My husband who was a Marine...has jumped from planes and helicopters several times...he would love this activity if he was still physically able to do so...

This is one of those things I really look forward to doing one of these days. I see it a lot on TV and there are some really cool and professional sky divers out there. They form some really cool patterns in the air. That is amazing. I don't think I would be forming any patterns just a jump and that is it. There are also some serious danders out there because a lot of people jump and their parachutes just don't open up.

I don't think I could ever do it for a living, I am a big believer in the 'Law of Averages' and it only take one time... however, I wouldn't be against going once. In fact, it sounds interesting enough for me to want to go at least once in my life. Everyone I know who has gone has had a great time.

Dear argie713, everybody does not get the opportunity. I would definitely go for this skydiving if I get an opportunity but I knew I would never get it. I think most of the skydivers are from army who were given training on skydiving. I think it is not open to everybody. May be some private organisation training the people for skydiving for fun sake. I agree it is dangerous game. Some poeple, like you, would like to take risk. I appreciate your spirit and keep it up. Have a nice day.

Oh heavens no! I have a fear for heights and not knowing how the end result would be, no thank you! I won't even get on the faris wheel at our state fair, let alone fall from the sky! I think the feeling would be awesome, but not a risk I will take.

Funny you should ask that. It is something that always attracted me and something that I always wanted to try.
I don't think I would try it now though. My heart is not at its best and maybe it wouldn't be such a good idea. But it's one of the things that was always in my mind for a long time, something that I would like to try. I"m not sure if what attracted me to it was the idea of the thrill but more the freedom... the controlled falling.
Well I guess it's a bit too late now, but it was something that attracted me.

Skydiving is a very interesting sport but not every body are brave enough to do that so do i.:)It's very risky if anything goes wrong,i mean an accident .
However, i am hopping some day i will have a chance to do this .Even though it's very dangerous but it is worthy to experience on such a incredible sport.
