Sorry for the all caps title this is a new breaking news report surrounding the whole Benoit family death. Wikipedia Listed Nancy Benoit's Death Before Benoit Family Was Discovered - PWinsider.com & Fox News report. The Fox News Network reported a chilling twist to the Benoit tragedy this afternoon, noting that an Chris Benoit profile entry on the wikipedia website was changed to note that he missed the WWE Vengeance PPV, "due to personal issues, stemming from the death of his wife Nancy" 14 hours before the Benoit family was found dead. The IP was traced to a (so far) anonymous user originating in Stamford, CT, which of course is the headquarters of World Wrestling Entertainment. wikipedia volunteer coordinator Cary Bass contacted the Fayetteville police department in regard to the posting. "I chat with other editors on IRC -- Internet relay chat -- and somebody pointed it out to me on a relay chat and that it came from a Stamford connection, and that it took place at midnight Eastern Standard Time on Monday morning,” said Bass. “I called and left a message with the police department.” It should be noted that with wikipedia, anyone can edit entries on the online encylopedia, which often leads to misinformation on topics and personalities. However, wikipedia tracks IPs, time and exactly what was written on the website, so this wouldn't have been a case of a hoax created afer the fact. Given the timing of the Benoit tragedy, obviously, authorities will be seeking to track down whoever made that change. Note: This is huge twist and developement in this story, also this is extremely suspicious. Somethings going on here that people just don't konw about yet, I have bad feeling :(

This is really bizarre, and I agree with you, seems awfully suspicious. I'm wondering if there might be an error in the computer software that timestamped the entry into Wikipedia? Just the cynical part of me coming out. It'll be interesting to see what is revealed about this sad case next...

What is your bad feeling. Do you think other people are involved? It's tragic, what has happened.

I heard about this and I'm pretty sure it was known to this other person because I think Chris had phoned in with an excuse not to be at the event. It is also said that his wife was killed the day before his son and he killed himself right after he killed his son, again, a day later than his wife.

I read this morning that someone posted a discussion on that page admitting to editing the wikipedia and said it was just a coincidence and speculation on his part. He apologized. Wiki says it is the same IP address but I hope they find out who this person is. Given the circumstances I think the police should investigate this. I hope they do.

That is strange I must say. I do not know why wikkipedia allows just anyone to edit their site. I always use that site for looking up spelling and definitions of words

Makes you wonder dont it. All I know is that if someone else did this to that family I hope they get caught. It's a very sad story all around and I only hope justice is served when it needs to be.

This is very interesting news and really makes us wonder what really happened to Chris and his wife and son. I read on CNN that the police raided the office of his doctor who prescribed the steroids for him for more clues. I would not be surprised if there was another party involved with their deaths, like maybe a jealous wrestler or a enemy of the family. I guess we will have to stay tuned for new and more bizarre details.

It could be that someone who got text messages left out some vital info. Maybe Benoit was being held captive and he was trying to get help. I mean, people knew his address so why would he send that? The cops say it is so the bodies could be found quickly. First of all I'm sure that if he did this he really wouldn't care what happened afterwards. Also, he is a public figure, unlike some of us who could go missing for a while without any real concern, fans, family, employers and the like would have been all over his disappearance for even a day.

The only thing I can say is that it keeps getting weirder and weirder by the minute. If it's proven that there was another person involved, then I don't even know what to think or why for that matter. All I have to say is just keep watching and see what happens next. This is turning into some crazy witchunt the way it is looking. Hopefully it will be resolved. I still call this a strange turn of events.
