i think being accepted by a college has two parts to it.
1: grades. obviously. grades follow you all through your acedemic career
2: volunteering in community organizations.
but which is more important? people are saying that colleges arent paying so much attention to your grades anymore, as they did in the past, but more of how you conduct yourself and how much you take part in helping the community.
so would you rather work extra hard to get those impressive grades, but not have a single community service mark; or do lots of volunteering and slack a bit in your grades?
or if you're past this point, what DID you do?
thanks!

I think my students career frivolous, not to learn anything, and it has not participated in any society, just playing together and friends to shopping,no serious effort to,so lost

I think grades are the most important when it comes to college's choices. But maybe that's just in Iowa.
Personally, I'd rather be half and half. I wouldn't care about having average grades as long as I'm a well-rounded student that has community service as well as the good grades that a school wants. Also, another thing I'd probably suggest is for someone to enroll in a bunch of out-of-school activities as well. Sure, it's not volunteering, but it helps show colleges that you're willing to put your time into things you love, such as your hobbies and whatnot.
Colleges are really starting to look for different things than they used to in the past.
