Blind Eyes...very touching story

I just received this in my email and never read it b4. Thought I would share it with my friends here in mylot. Really makes you think, no? Blind Eyes There was once a blind young woman who hated life for no other reason except that she was blind. She hated everyone, except her loving boyfriend. He was always there for her. She often said that if she could only see, she would marry her boyfriend. One day, someone donated a pair of eyes to her and soon she could see everything, including her boyfriend. Her boyfriend asked her, "Now that you can see the world, will you marry me?" The girl was shocked when she learned that her boyfriend was blind. Now, not wanting to be burdened by a 'blind' person, she refused to marry him. Her loving, devoted and understanding boyfriend walked away in tears, his heart obviously broken. The girl who had been so fortunate to have the world opened up to her, continued enjoying it, day in and day out, trying to never miss a single pleasure life had to offer. After a time, she received a letter from her ex-boyfriend, which stated simply: "Your happiness was all that ever mattered to me. I am so happy that you are enjoying life as I always hoped you could I would like to ask one parting favor of you, my dear... please, just take care of my eyes." This, as sad as it may seem, is how the human brain changes when our status changes. Only a few remember what life was like before and who's always been there even in the most painful situations. Life Is A Gift So, today before you think of saying an unkind word - Think of someone who can't speak. Before you complain about the taste of your food - T hink of someone who has nothing to eat. Today before you complain about life - Think of someone who went too early to heaven. Before you complain about your children - Think of someone who desires children but they're barren. Before you argue about your dirty house, someone didn't clean or sweep - Think of the people who are living in the streets. Before whining about the distance you drive - Think of someone who walks the same distance. And when you are tired and complain about your job - Think of the unemployed, the disabled and those who wished they had your job. But before you think of pointing the finger or condemning another - Remember that not one of us are without sin and we all answer to one Maker. .. And when depressing thoughts seem to get you down - Put a smile on your face and thank God you're alive and still around. Life is a gift... Live it... Enjoy it... Celebrate it... And fulfill it Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares." Hebrews 13:2 Love and God Bless.........

That's very sad, but very true in so many situations. It really makes you stop and look at your situation. No matter how bad we think things are, there's always someone out there that's going through something worse.

That's what got me thru the days after my hubby left us. Sure we had to cut corners but we didn't lose the house or the car. I even mentioned to my daughter during one of her whiny spells when she wanted something and I had to tell her no cause I didn't have the money that she should be grateful we aren't homeless and that she has friends she doesn't have to leave behind. That we have our pets still. After thinking about it for some time, she came back to me with a big hug and said she will never ask for anything again and she didn't for a long time.

It's so hard to say no to our children when they want something. It's good that she realized it wasn't because you didn't want to, but because you couldn't. Not all are that understanding.

That story brought me to tears. But it's so true, when some people have that status change, they forget where they came from and those that were always there for them. And it's so sad that that happens. It's definitely a very good life lesson for people to learn. Thanks so much for sharing this hon.

Story brought tears to my eyes as well. I've known ppl like this. They were great friends until the 'status' change, then they suddenly stopped talking to me. It's times like that when I realize they were never my friend to begin with.

Well you have the whole admonition at the end wrong. It is not be "kind to someone who is less fortunate than you, and do not complain about your problems because etc." it is that if you did have a disability and you no longer have it, you should not disparage someone who has the same handicap that you no longer has. This is not the case, that I cannot say the food I eat is too salty because there might be someone with no sense of taste, or my job is too hard because someone is unemployed, etc. The whole story of that former blind girl should have been explained that when something has been fixed in your life, you should not assume that someone has that same problem because they deserve it, or they were too lazy to get it fixed. And if you did have a handicap, you are supposed to understand more what that person is going through and not leave them in a lurch. So if something is bothering me, if the food is too salty, if it is rotten, no person with no taste buds, or no tongue is going to stop me from telling others. I am not politically correct and I am not afraid.

This post makes a person step back and ponder. When things change sometimes the person changes. Sometimes for the good other times not so good. We always should stop and think about what we have and appreciate it as well as the people that are around us we should appreciate. Very Excellent Post and it says a bundle.

This also brought tears to my eyes. The man loved unconditional and only wanted happiness for the girl. His sacrafice of his eyes was truly giving.
