How many gallons of water does your family use at bath time?

I'm only asking because I've noticed that my family can run through an entire tank of hot water at shower/bath time, and I was wondering how many gallons that might be. I think we have a forty gallon water tank, but it may be more. It seems like a lot of water to be wasting down the drain just for a bath or shower. Does that sound about normal? How many gallons of water does your hot water tank hold?

I have never even thought of this. I try to conserve water as much as I can but I never realised we use so much. We also have a 40 gallon water heater that we use up when we shower. Plus we have some cold on too so Im sure it is a lot higher.
We usualy take our bath water and water plants and the dry spots in the grass.

I'm not sure how much our hot water tank holds, but as long as we don't all take showers back to back, we don't run out. I try not to use too much water bathing. I don't take baths and I cut the water on and off while I'm in the shower, unless I've just had a really rough day.
