If you could change ONE thing about where you lived...

...whether it be something you change in your city, county, province or state or country, what would it be and why would you change it?
Given the chance, I would abolish income taxes in Canada. I think it's ridiculous that I have to pay the government for the privelege of working my butt off every workday, to panic because my employer's accountants and payroll admin might screw up and not take enough off, then to pay someone to prepare my taxes just so I can pay the government more money because the accountants did screw up.
I made just over $21,000 last year and I own the Canadian government $900 currently for last year's taxes. $900 is a drop in the bucket for the good ol' CRA, but for me, it's a month's rent.
I have a whole list of things I'd change, but that would be #1.. what about you?

that would be pretty hard for me because like you I want to change a lot about where I lived, the city, the street and the whole country as well..not that i am not satisfied but it's because I thik there are still lots of room for improvement for us here.
so given the chance, I would cahnge the educational system/department of this country so they'll be able to deliver quality free education to everyone as I believe that Education is one good tool to alleviate poverty and enhance one's life.

I agree. Free education for all would be a fantastic idea and would increase overall quality of life. After all, not everyone is going to take advantage of it, but those that do would be able to put more of themselves into it without worrying about how they're going to foot the bill when they're done.

I would raise the minimum wage. Not slightly, but by a lot. I would make it so everyone had plenty of money to pay their bills plus a little extra. This day and age, that doesn't happen very often.

That would be wonderful, of course the government would have to give their bit back and raise the cost of living to coincide with the wage increase, though. Buggers. :(

*LOL* Yep.
Although I'm from Canada, I definitely feel your pain on the last note. So many soldiers are coming back in coffins and it all seems so senseless. Why are we still there???
I'm going to go check out that new Michael Moore documentary 'Sicko' this weekend.
