Do you "fast-forward" your watch or clock?

Today when I was in the subway, I was peaking at other people's watches! One of the guy there has it 30 minutes faster than the actual time! I don't wear a watch anymore but I am amazed that people make it so much faster than the actual time! I have all my clocks at home setting to the actual time. What's the point of making it go faster when you know that it's faster by heart? What about you? Do you "fast-forward" your watches or clocks?

I used to keep my watch set 15 minutes fast so I'd get to appointments on time. But eventually, I got in the habit of thinking "Oh, my watch is fast ..." Now I just keep it set at the proper time and use the alarm on my smart phone to make it to appointments on time.

Right, that's why I won't do that to my watch (if I still wear any)! I would be thinking, "oh I still have time!" And I am often early for appointments and stuff and I wouldn't want to arrive even earlier *laughs*.

i set my watch(es) around 20 minutes advance just to make sure that i won't get late. i have set my mind that it's the real time so that i won't find excuses like "i know my watch is 20 minutes advance so there's no need to hurry" or something to that effect...

Wow, 20 minutes! That's a lot! Won't you be a little to early for appointments then?

I don't wear a watch, and I try to keep all the clocks in my house set at the right time. I always laugh at my brother, though. He always sets his alarm clock, coffee maker, clock in his jeep, etc. at least 15 minutes early. (I think he actually sets his alarm 30 mins early.) I've asked him a thousand times why he does this, and he simply shrugs it off, saying that he likes to do it that way. I don't understand it. I mean, how early can you be? Or how late do you think you're going to be? No, I like to know what time it really is.

*laughs* Right, me too! I like to know what time it really is instead of having my "own time". I could understand setting to 10 minutes or something earlier, but 30 minutes! I mean you know by heart that you have 30 minutes MORE!

Hello, wondericequeen,i also do not wear a watch as i do not like the feeling have something on my wrist all the time,i will reply on my cellphone when i need to check the time,i will only set the time for my cellphones few minutes faster than the actual time so as to alert me to be ontime to catch the trains when i go to work at the morning. At home,i will check the time on my laptop most of the time which is the same as the actual one.

I don't wear a watch now too! And I rely on my cell phone for time. But well, I would say, most of the time, I tend to sneak at other people's watches for the time *laughs* because my cell is usually in my bag and I am too lazy to take it out!

Hi. Fast-forwarding our watches and clocks in New Zealand is what we do for Daylight saving. During summer,'daylight saving time' applies. All clocks and watches are put forward one hour on the first Sunday in October, to start daylight saving, and put back one hour on the third Sunday in March to end it.

Oh yes, other countries do that and we don't do that! I remember when I first heard of it, I was really confused about changing time like that and I kept asking my friends in other countries why! *laughs* I was really innocent then!

Yeah, I do fast forward the clock on my room. I set it around 10 minutes advance so I won't be late. However I know it's faster than the actual time, so sometimes when I look at it I'm gonna say, "Oh my, it's 8 o'clock!! Hey, wait...it's 10 minutes faster.." And that kind of thoughts usually make me late! That's why I used to set the actual time on my cellphone. It's better for me.

*laughs* Instead of getting you early to the appointments, that actually get you late. This is a fun point of view. I just can't do it, it would confuse my little brain *smiles*.

I do the same thing but with a twist. I maintain the exact time in all the clocks at home but I “fast-forward” my wristwatches, specially those that I wear to office. I usually forward them by 10 mins, so that even if I am late according to the clocks in my house, I am in time as per my office-time when I follow my wristwatch. A bit confusing…isn’t it???

Right, I could understand that because we all don't want to be late for work! Yes it would be a little confusing for me if I look at my clock and my watch in the early morning when my brain is still shut down *laughs*. Probably I would freak myself out thinking which time is right!

okay..okay..I plead guilty here my friend, My wristwatch is set on 30 minutes advance, the clock on my room is also 15 minutes advance, my cellphones clock is almost 20 minutes ahead but it's all useless because I know in my mind and in my hear that they were all set in advance so I always, always end up being late..huhuhu! pity me. I am not really good in time keeping. :(

*laughs* That's what I was trying to explain in the discussion! Ha, I think we should "fast-forward" the time in our heads for real if we don't want to be late!

I have a very strange quirk when it comes to clocks. I set them neither fast nor on time. Instead I set them to some random time and then figure out and memorize how far of they are from the actual time.

*laughs* Sounds like my mom. One time when I was looking at all the three clocks in my place, and they were all at different times, I had to check online and see what the real time was and put those back on track! It was bad!

I keep the clock in our bedroom about 30 minutes ahead. I am not sure why we started doing that but I decided to keep it up the last time that I had to reset it. We are used to it being fast so I guess I will keep it that a way.

I do have the master clocks (normally the computer and mobile phone) which would have the actual time. Apart from that, all my watches, alarm clock and wall clock at home are adjusted to be around 5-10 minutes faster than the actual time. As a reminder, it helps a little but I usually adjust the time by heart. However, I wouldn't adjust the clocks so much ahead of the actual time.

I'm always setting my computer clock forward 15 minutes so that I can finish up posting on My Lot before midnight. But, every time I reboot, my computer resets my clock, so I am perpetually late!

Hello wondericequeen, I do 'fast forward' my alarm clock. I set it 30 minutes earlier than the actual time. Whenever I hear it rings (so loud in the morning that I always have to 'go and search where the sound comes from in my dream'), I will switch off the alarm and go back to sleep. I know it is half an hour earlier than the time I need to wake up. You are right. Even though I know it is faster than the actual time, I still 'fast forward' my alarm clock. That is why I will wake up, switch it off, go back to sleep and amazingly wake up again after 30 minutes without the help of my alarm clock! I still do it now though I can wake up on time every morning. I have a better 'alarm clock' now :- my BABY who wakes up at 6.30am without fail!

Oh wow! You can really wake up after 30 minutes without alarm clock? Amazing! Because if I don't get up and fall back to sleep, it would be another half day being gone! I guess my body clock is not really working well *laughs*!

All the clocks in my house run on time, but the clock in my car is five minutes fast. I only do that so that way my husband gets to appoitments on time :) lol

I set the time in my watch 10 minutes faster than the actual time. If i have to go a place at a particular time, i will start to that place seeing the time on my watch. So i will atleast reach the place on time whether i reach it before or not.

I used to keep my watch 10 minutes ahead of the right time, it helps me do things on time and to reach places punctually, but sometimes it make a little lazy too. Because I know my watch is running early.

I have always thought that the purpose of having a clock and/or watch was to know what time it was at the moment. So no I do not set my clocks/watch forward.

No way. I would get so confused as to what the real time was so I would surely be late.
