How do you know if you are really in love?

Can you put in words how you can tell if you are really in love. I had a couple of girfriends that I thought I was in love with and after each of those relationships ended I realized that I had liked them a lot and had loved them but I had not really been in love with them. So that had me wondering how I would know if I was really in love. Then I met someone and I knew I was really in love with her. I didn't know how I knew, I just knew; it was all in the heart and such. It didn't work out and after we broke up, I was back to wondering how I would know. But I still knew I had really been in love with her. It is just that it is very hard to tell for sure. So does anyone have any words of wisdom on how to tell if you are really in love?

Love can be with one girl. You have mentioned about girlfriends, you cannot make justice with all. You may be in love only one of them. Remember the past, who was she to whom you used to remember more or all the time. That only girl is your beloved one. All other are just friends. So please be honest in making love. Pour out love to only one not to mass. Friendship can be with many but love with only one. If you are remembering someone all the day, time, moment etc means you are in love. If you ask your friends only about a particular girl, means you are in love. When a girl comes even in dream that means you are in love. These are the few signs of love. I think you love a gir.

Yes, I get all that, but I have felt most of those things toward most of the girls I have dated more than just casually, in other words for any length of time. But it was just not the same as with that one girl I described, but I can't tell you what the difference was with her.

You could always feel it... if you can't wait to see her, can't stop thinking of her, and you want to spent your life with her...then it's true love.

you have to percept if you love the person for what she is (including the defects)or if you're just projecting your fantasies, your idealization. If you see the real situation and feel something special at the same time, you're in love. you have to believe your intuition but don't forget your rasional side too.
