i was in auckland a few months ago and found out that my 4 year old niece refuse to eat meat! she just wants to eat vegetables. this is the first time i have ever seen children that loves vegetables (esp peas!).
my brother and sis-in-law is pout of ideas trying to get her to eat meat. they actually tried dying a breaded nugget green!
any mothers in here experience this or know any "motherly" secrets to get kids to eat meat?
and please don't say my niece is the dalai lama incarnate.

Eating vegetables is a nice thing. But you are correct, she needs to eat meat also.
You can try adding minced meat in salads and give her.
First try to put it in small quantities and gradually try other stuff.
Hope this will help. Also give her the feeling that all celibrities adn sports person are strong because they eat meat also.

Children tend to go through phases when it comes to eating. This may pass over, or it may be simply that she does not enjoy the taste of meat. It's great the she loves vegetables, and isn't just eating junk. Your brother and sister-in-law may want to look into serving your niece vegetarian foods so that she may get the protein she is lacking by passing on the meat. An added bonus is that if she ends up liking the vegetarian options, it will be healthier for her than eating meat as well. :)
