Do you consider Manny Pacquiao to be a modern day Filipino hero? For me, I think yes because he has inspired so many Filipinos especially Filipino boxers to be like him, hard-working, humble, and God-fearing. What are your thoughts about this?

i agree with you that manny pacquiao is a modern hero of sorts. the characteristics he emulates (hard-working, humble, God-fearing) are exactly what filipinos need to rise from their dismal current situation. as i was an athlete of contact sports before, i admire his courage and tenacity in all of his matches. i vividly remember how daunting it was to enter every match, not knowing how good your opponent is--or worse, knowing he's good enough to beat you to a pulp. i look up to pacman a lot and it be a very great honor to meet him in person. three cheers for this southpaw from gensan!

Thanks for the response! What contact sport were you engaged in to? I bet its Taekwondo because it is very popular and there are many tournaments held in that sport. If you're a Filipina boxer, I totally envy you because I want to try boxing as a hobby or exercise program but I don't have the money to be involved in any boxing program.

Hahaha! I really notice that in TKD athletes. My friend is also a TKD athlete in our school. Do you happen to know any Raymund Abellar? That's him. Anyway, in TKD athletes, I also noticed that their legs are longer compared to their arms. I know this is because of the kicks TKD athletes do every day, every practice, and every each competition. Thanks by the way!

I DONT AGREE, NOT YET, A ROLE MODEL MAYBE BUT NOT QUITE. Yes i do give him a high regard because of the feats he achieved but that does not qualify him to be a modern day hero.

Thanks for posting pascard! Like what I've told to the other user, we have different preferences on picking our own heroes. but I totally agree with Manny being a role model for Filipinos especially those inclined in boxing and sports. Some of his traits I really idolize like his very persevering, hard-working, and a God-fearing attitude but for his vices, I really don't.
