I was wondering if any of you have suffered from Still's Disease, or if you have children with this? My son was diagnosed with it when he was a year old. The next 18 months were very stressful, but we are happy to say that he is now, at the age of 3, off all his medication, and the doctors feel he is clear of the disease. I would like to hear from anyone who has had experience with this illness.

Hi. Thankyou for your interest, and your good wishes. Still's Disease is basically a form of juvenille rheumatoid arthritis. It was a cruel thing to see our baby go through. He went from being a normal healthy toddler, walking around, playing, and became a shell, unable even to sit up. He was 18 months old when he was diagnosed, and he was very ill. His doctor described it as a *bushfire burning from within, which would eventually consume him if left untreated*. The hardest part was the diagnosis. There is no diagnostic test for this disease, so basically they had to rule out a list of other illnesses, then commence treatment, and hope for the best. One of the illnesses they had to rule out was leukemia. So they took him to the operating room, took a bone marrow sample...luckily it was negative. So they started treating him for Stills Disease, and, within a few hours, his condition was improving. Within a day, he was sitting up in bed, eating Weet Bix!!

Look AbsentStare, Thank you very much for taking the time to explain this disease, it sounds similar to what my mother inlaw told me my husband had as a toddler just turned 2, he couldnt walk or practically do anything and it just happened out of the blue and she said it just disapeared one day out of the blue, today hes fine, he surfs and works, hes a very loving father and husband and is very active in his daily life... I wish your family and most of all your baby the best out of life...

Hello there!(",)
We have tackled that n class but I just forgot all about it that's why I made some review about it. Here's what I found.
Still's disease is a disorder featuring inflammation that is characterized by high spiking fevers, evanescent (transient) salmon-colored rash and/or arthritis. Still's disease was first described in children, but it is now known to occur, much less commonly, in adults (in whom it is referred to as adult-onset Still's disease). here have been a number of schools of thought regarding the cause(s) of Still's disease. One concept is that Still's disease is due to infection with a microbe. Another idea is that Still's disease is a hypersensitive or autoimmune disorder. In fact, the cause of Still's disease is not yet known.
I do hope that your child is getting better know. You are such a survivor with your experience. Keep it up!
God bless always!(",)
