How many of you think that Iron Maiden is the best metal band?

I really think that Iron Maiden is the best metal band followed closely by Metallica and Black Sabbath.I don't see any band who will be able to reach the level of this group.They have achieved so much things and their albums,songs are so good..Iron Maiden are true GoDs and they will always reign in the world of metal,Up the Irons !!!!

Yes, I think that Iron Maiden are at least one of the best bands, and I agree with Metallica running a close second, but I would put Rammstein in third. I love their music, even though they sing in German. I do understand the German language, so it's not too difficult for me, but I'm sure lots of people don't like the fact that they can't understand their words.
However, Iron Maiden are brill... my favourite song from them is Fear of the Dark, the live version where everybody joins in the chorus. That is so moving!!!

I love Fear of the Dark, too. I think the live version is better than the album version. That's something I don't think I can say about any other song.

I kust love all maiden´s albuns, and my favorite songs are Helloween be thy name, Infinite Dreams, Clansman and fear of the dark.
Just awesome.

I think that Maiden is the greatest, it has all (for me), great voice, and instrumentals. Metallica is also good, but i fell more great earing Maiden!!

Truly they are the best.Their lyrics are quite interesting.And then the best guitarist and drummer

Number Of The Beast is one of their best,if not the best album..I really like the songs Hallowed Be Thy Name,Children of the damned,Invaders,22 Acacia Avenue and the title song itself and..I think that I really love the entire album lol

See I don't feel Metallica should even make the short list, unless the band had broken up around the time of the Black Album. Load and Reload almost reached a level of being pop. Something I'd expect from Bon Jovi.
Iron Maiden definately is one of the more intense metal bands, definately some Black Sabbath, but I'd throw MegaDeth in there. I've even seen them in the last few years live and they still can rock the house with some face melting performances.
Ah for the return of Headbangers Ball.

I thought the same thing about Metallica at first,but after listening to albums like Master of Puppets,Black Album etc,I found them being awesome...but their place in the best metal bands may have fallen due to their last albums,specially St Anger lol

I understand how you feel, St. Anger was pretty bad, and Load and Reload were much more rock than metal and I can't say that they really do it for me or that I ever listen to them often (but there are a couple good songs like Fuel). But. . .like you said, the first 5 albums were awesome, and I think that putting out those albums alone was a huge accomplishment that earned them a seat next to Sabbath and Maiden (definitely along with Megadeth and I also think Pantera).

You're right! There's not any band that could ever be as good or better than Maiden. It's just impossible.

Black Sabbath created metal, iron maiden made it something so much more.
