Do you believe in having a first-aid box around?

Little accidents often do happen when we least expected it, especially cuts. The common cuts I get is not from the knife, but from handling paper in office. I do not know why, but these papers just enjoy biting me. And it is not just a nip. It can be as long as 2 cm. Most of the times I realise it only when I see blood on the paper or when it comes in touch with water. You might think I put on a plaster, no. I do not. I do not have a medical kit with me. Neither is there a first aid box in office. Neither do I keep plasters with me. I know some people do, especially ladies. It is common knowledge and understanding that the first-aid box is a must thing to have at home and in office. However, many just do not see the importance of it, probably because we don't use it often, and medicine have expiry dates. I have one at home and I find it a chore to always having to check for expiry dates. Friends, do you keep first-aid box or have a medical kit at home? Or you do carry some plasters with you? Do you find it a chore to check and replenish the medicine in the medical kit? Or you have some other means of healing cuts and like?

Yes, I do have a first-aid kit at home. I do think it is very important too. Even if you don't have one, you should at least have some plasters/band-aids around. The things inside shouldn't be used that often in the first place.:P

Since the kitchen is already so equipped, just add some plasters, gauzes etc and I believe it is more than a first-aid kit :P

I have a well equipped first aid box in my kitchen and another one in my car. I have always made sure that both kits are up to date and contain everything I need to have. The kit in the car is one that a friend of mine gave me, she is with St.John's Ambulance and that kit is exactly right for carrying in the car, in case of being first on scene at accidents. I also recently bought some of the new spray plaster but haven't had to use it yet.

We have a small one in our bathroom that we keep under the sink. Your post has just reminded me to restock on a few things like plasters/band aids and stuff. I do have few in my handbag just incase my son gets a cut when we are out and about.

i don't have a first aid box in my office, but i think my company has one. somewhere. heh. i used to carry one plaster around in my wallet but have stopped since. dunno what happened to the last one. probably gave it to someone and forgot to replenish. my parents home used to have a yellow first aid box that looked very professional. even had a + sign on the front. and it was very well stocked. guess i should really get one. perhaps when i have kids. cos you never know when you need to save your kid. right now all i have is savlon. and perhaps a box of handyplast.

It's advisable to keep a first aid kit in places where we are often especially in the house and there are children. But as of now, I am in a thickly populated area and even if I do not have first aid kit, stores are near to get from whatever we need for first aid. In far flung areas, families should have at least the basic medicines for first aid.

I actually have four of them in my house. My husband works for a company that requires them to have several on hand. So when they go to replace the old ones each year, he will usually bring one home with him. And they definitely come in very handy, as I am notorious for getting large nasty paper cuts, or cuts from the knives as I am washing them.

I do not have a formal first aid box, but I do have most of the essentials on hand, as well some emergency meds. I do replenish once in a while and throw away items that have expired.

Hello bighead. I used to have one complete first-aid box. There are all sort of bandages, plasters and ointment. However, I can't seems to find anything in it everytime I needed to get something in there. My girls are using the band-aid for their dolls. They said their "little babies" had wounds. "roll eyes" I have those band-aid which I needed to put in a secret place. I don't want it to end up plastered on the little babies again.

Hello, whyaskq,i do not have any first aid box at home and my workplace, also i do not carry plaster with me,I think a first aid box is useful so that when you get a wound ,you can find something you need from the first aid box immediately, may be cotton to stop bleed and the plaster to prevent the wound to be exposed in the air. When i have wound ,most of the time,i will just wash it under running water ,if i stay at home,i will not use plaster at all.

I have an active 7 yr. old so I have a first aid kit in the bathroom and one in the car as well. I also keep a box of bandaids (plasters) in my bedroom and a few in my wallet. I also have several assorted sprays and ointments to treat whatever injury comes up.

No, I don't keep a FirstAid kit at home, I just have some bandaids and an anticeptic to clean the cut. As for at work, we don't really use it either and when me and some friends checked it out is was last verified over 3 years ago and things were missing. If I need a band-aid I improvise with a tissue and tape and it seems to do the job, until I can care for it better.
