It is bad. But because the U.K. is so available it is only logical that they would be a target.
It is very worrisome but considering you are more likely, even today, to be killed in and auto accident than by a terrorist we all must not let it stop us.
If you pay attention to what is around you and when the government sets the terror alert you act accordingly I think you will be fine.
Terrorism is a world wide problem. Almost no country is exempt and sadly the more you back the United States the more likely you will be a target.
Even the absence of that is not a guarantee. The whole objective of terrorism is to evoke fear. The more the better. Fear not and they can't win.

I find it scary that all the parts seem to avaiable over the counter--propane, nails and a cell phone. It is a little freaky. My neighbors could be the next terrorist.
And this Prime Minister has been in office three days. Yes, lets remind him that there are still terrorists out there--bet that speeds up the process of getting British troops out of the Middle East.
