I went outside to do some gardening and lo and behold..... Needless to say I am now eating about a half pint of my fresh picked red delicious rasberries. Got a bunch this year too. There are also about 20 off shoots growing so the fall season is busy as I will also be moving these and transplanting them in a neat fashion along my fence or something like that. they are just scattered and I'd like to make a few neat rows of them about 2 to 3 feet apart. Enjoy the photo as I enjoy eating these. Yummm!

Ok you just had to out do me didn't you - I'm setting here eating fresh cherries I picked yesterday but I'm having trouble spitting the pits out while I type :( rasberries would be much easier :) I actually spotted a bunch of bushes around the property here that I plan to relocate.

Do they require direct sunlight or can they work in the partial or full shade? Do you need to fertilize them or do anything special with them, instead of running them over with the lawnmower? ha ha

Partial shade is okay. Mine get about 3 to 5
hours sun light only. And they grow like crazy.

They thrive through the winter so cold winters are okay. They are very invasive meaning they spread like crazy. I just run them over wioth the lawnmower. Hahaha! They are small bushes not vines. But they get to about 3 feet tall for best fruits.

Love raspberries! I wanted to plant some bushes near our home. I am not sure if they would thrive in partial sun. I will have to be happy with the slim pickings I find in the wild.

4 hours of sunshine is plenty for rasberries. These are the ever blloming. I'll have berries on and off till first frost or close to that. October more than likely.

I don't want the photo- I want the berries- I'm starving too- I thinkit isn't fair that you already have so many veggies and fruits from the garden- I can only hope that here in NY- we have them long after yours are gone- because you started way before us- I did check out our tomatoes last night after looking at all of your pics- and we have baby ones-!! it's a start!

Very easy to grow as they are a bush not a plant actually. They need to be pruned to keep the harvest large is the only real work involved. They are very evasive spreading like weeds. I just mow the growths over if I wish not to save them.

They are magnificant looking rasberries, so red! This time I have a rasberry muffin recipe for you. It's easy & should suit your Dad.
Raspberry Muffins
Ingredients
1 ½ cups flour
¼ cup sugar
¼ cup brown sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
2 teaspoons cinnamon
2 eggs
½ cup margarine
½ cup milk
1 cup raspberries (if frozen, thaw and drain)
1 teaspoon grated lemon rind
Directions
Mix together first 5 ingredients. In a separate bowl, blend together eggs, margarine and milk. Combine.
Gently fold in raspberries & lemon rind. Pour batter into greased muffin cups. Bake at 350°F for 20-25 minutes.

I am so envious! I can't get hubby to plant any berries. He is still enthralled that he can grow tomatos and squash/zuchinni. They are easy to grow and give abundent results. I so want him to branch out (no pun intended) and experiment with some other items in the garden! I am a berry freak, and would eat a serving at each meal if I could afford it. They are very, very good for you too!

Rasberries of any variety are fairly simple to grow. They are very evasive and spread like weeds so it's hard to kill them off. Plus they are cheap to buy also. I got mine free from the neighbor and have passed about 5 bushes off at least. I now have about 20 or 25 to dig up this fall and transplant. Too many shoots spread out and I just run them over with the lawnmower. Great way to control them.

I am not a fan of respberries, but I have never had a fresh one. I hope they taste better fresh then they do in other things.
I have three cucumbers that will be ripe soon and my squash is going to take a day or two.
I still am morning over the lost green beans so I will see if I can talk about them. LOL

My son and his friend came home the other day with a branch from a raspberry bush, chomping off of it. I reminded him that taking the entire branch was NOT necessary, but I have to admit it was cute! LOL
