I just don't enjoy summer anymore!

It's summer again, and the sun is shining. But, it just doesn't feel the same to me, since I became an adult. Now it's all about work and trying to support a family. Most summer days I'm so wrapped up in being a mom that I never even get a chance to go outside to enjoy the fine weather. And, it's been ages since I went to the beach or had an outdoor picnic. When I was a kid I loved the beach and since we lived so close, we went almost daily, year round. Even when the weather was cold! My brothers and I would jump off the edge of the pier into the chest deep shallow water and splash around for hours. Good times! I'm just hoping that my little kid loves summer as much as I once did, so we can start having some fun again. Do you guys ever get nostalgic for the good old days of summer when you were a kid and didn't have to think of anything but having fun? Would love to hear from you on this topic.

Summer Days - Nothing like the old days!
It sure does suk being an adult in the summer...lol....I remember the "old days" when I could go to the beach whenever I wanted to. Actually do ANYTHING I wanted to! The word fun has practically disappeared from my vocabulary these days. There is just so much that just has to be done and people who need me for one reason or the other. Kids have no idea how lucky they are do they?

I'm there with you on that! I would pay a million dollars (if I had it) for one fun day in the sun at the beach. These days it's work, work, work!

Yes, I get nostalgic about the good old days of summer fun, but I carried it on through my kids, by taking them off down to the beach, the parks and so on. You must get a little time to do this, if only at the weekends. Let them enjoy the things you did, if only for one or two days a week. I know it's hard if you're a single, working parent, but I'm sure if you planned things a week ahead, you would be able to manage this. Brightest Blessings.

That sounds great... you're quite welcome to the advice, and I'm sure you'll recapture some of the fun you had in your young days at the same time. Have a great summer!

Oh yes! I must do that soon. Mine is just now getting to an age where she likes going outdoors. We will have many years of fun at the beach. Maybe some camping too. Thank you for the good advice.

You sound like my sister she says the same thing. Its really hard when your working and trying to support a family. But you have to take some time with your family and just doing something go to the beach and have some fun.

Oh..my dear, My kids are grown and married and have given me 13 wonderful grandchildren but, I still reminisce about my days as a young girl and miss them very much. There was always something to do and living in the city, somewhere to go and lots of kids to do it with. Even though we didn't have A/C back then and our houses would get so hot that the candles in their holders would melt, we will looked forward to summer and dealt with the daytime heat. Nights were spent on the front veranda where kids were quiet and fell asleep to be carried up to bed and parents spoke in low voices over the veranda railings. Quiet Sunday mornings were broken only by the peal of church bells that could be heard from every direction, from every city block for miles around. Thanks for taking me back, it was a great visit.

I do miss the good old day of playing in the river and traveling to Mexico. It was nice not having to be responsible and just worry about having fun. I'm a bit lucky though I'm a stay at home mom and I get to enjoy taking my kids to the lake and picnics which is really nice.

Oh!.. you liked summer when you were young, quite different from my views :).. may be the differ3ence is the geographical region where we do live. You dont like it now when u r adult and you dont have to enjoyt it.. but i hate it,, since frm my childhood, coz i m in a place where the temperature crosses 50 degrees and i m afraid if i try to ENJOY the sunshine outdoor i will be converted to a human broast..lol c'mon, who likes sweating in the executive dress with a neck tie, the office life in the summer becomes almost Hell, the evenings are somewhat beautiful, but what do you think after a looong summer day of work, would some prefer to rest at home or go out for enjoyin the evenig! :) may be my words are going more tight n hard but well that reflects how much i m pissed of coz of my this hot weather.. and really ITS TOO HOT TO BE COOL HERE ..:)

Actually, for me it has been rough for both summer and winter. It has been a very long time since I have had a realy fun and carefree year. I seem to be always focused on getting where I am going, yet, I never arrive. I try to focus on being content with where I am, but I am just not happy. I guess because I have had so many bad years recently, that when I look back that is all that I see. I will be glad when things start to look up in my life again.

Better to stay indoors under the air conditioner, right?

I don't ever get nostalgic, but I do have very good memories of summers as a kid. I do remember riding my bike with my friends, waiting for the ice cream man and running under the sprinkler. I still love summer, but for different reasons now. I try to catch up on my reading and take better care of myself as I have more time in the summer.

That's what I get done in the summer. Just lots of me time and cleaning the house. Too many ants though. Not enjoying that.

I am going to graduate from colleage this summer. After that,I must get a job to support myself---this is the most important thing right now.The sun is shining, nice weather, isn't it?If I can go swimming with my friends,I would say"Oh,I love summer".But,I can't swim, and I must go everywhere to find a job.I just feel the heat and the high temperature.
