I am so proud of him. He is working very hard and it seems to have matured him already. I have always been proud of him but seeing this side of him just makes me see a whole new side of him. I am just bursting that he is making good decisions. Sorry about bragging but I needed to tell somebody other than my family which I am driving crazy by talking about it. I am just proud.

Seems he is doing part time job not full time. Though you are feeling proud this time but I think you should provide him better education for few more years then only send him on any job. This is early age for job. This may be because of your financial position. One more thing comes to my mind is "Is there no child labour law" which prevent such teen-age working. Government must support such boys who has to study and work at a time.

Yes there are child labor laws. He is on summer breaks. Financially my husband and I do just fine. Quited the opposite he gets half his paycheck put a way in an investment account so that he can have it when he becomes older. I want my son to have a great start in life and believe hard work will achieve these things for him. As far as his studys my son has always been a straight A student with the occasional B. I don't really see how working is bad thing.

I agree with you, working cannot do any harm. Its just that here in India, we have a mindset of not having youngsters work but concentrate on their studies, but that often means that at age 20 when the boys are done with their studies, they have not really matured. There are the usual pluses and minuses, but given a choice, I think it is right to have kids learn about the dignity of labor and get used to the idea of hard work and that can happen only in a job. And the environment in your country is supportive of this kind of labor 'education'. So go for it!

I think you should be proud it is good to see someone so young getting out there and working, I think sometimes it is good to start working at a young age and learning how the work system works and the value of money, I think people who start working young get the life experiences needed and long with that eventually comes common sense which no-one learns at school.

I believe that too. But I thought it was going to be a hassle trying to wake him up and get him there but he has really taking to it. Actaully even waking me up earlier then I want to get up to go to work. LOL. I am glad he has learned that its not always easy but can be rewarding.

I'd be proud too. It's definitely a first step into the real world. It'll teach him how to balance school, homework, and work all at the same time. And will even teach him how to manage his money.
