My cat drinks tea!

Today I was moving a cup off the counter and spilled tea on the floor. And, quick as a flash my cat was on top of the spill licking it up. Is this weird? Do all cats drink tea? Do you think the caffiene will make him sick?

oh mabe your cat is an upper class English cat and like a spot of tea, I don't think a little tea would do your cat much harm, oh cute though you have your own little cleaner in house, I know dogs like to eat and drink what they see their owners are having but that is the first time I have heard of a cat, I think it is cute...

My little man (cat) is originally an outdoor wild kitten so he is more dog than cat. LOL! And, so serious! You've never met a more serious cat. And, he thinks it the highest insult if I don't at least share some of my food with him at every meal. Most times he just sniffs whatever it is I'm eating and then moves on. But, I have to offer the food, or he gets offended. That's so human!

You know, I just wish mine could talk to me. I'll bet he would have the funniest things to say. Well, there's that and talking cats are funny anyway, right? So far, I feel like he is kind of talking to me anyway, because I understand everything he needs just by his cries and the way he looks at me. Maybe it's cat telepathy. Being his cat mommy doesn't hurt either.

I don't think he would of licked up enough of the tea for the caffiene to make him sick. Cats are funny aren't they? Mine had never drank my spilt tea but I've seen him lick a plate that had some chicken flavored rice still on it. Boy he is fast. I turned away just for a few minutes and he hopped on the table, and he knows that I don't let him on the table.

It sounds so funny that your cat drinks the tea. I have never heard about it before. Perhaps at that time your cat was just too thirsty:)

Later I found that my daughter had turned over his water bowl, so he was most likely thirsty.

My cat likes to eat everything that I eat. I mean... he's gotta smell a lot of stuff and every so often he'll try some. He loves butter and cheese. every so often he'll eat some cheesecake and some poptarts strawberry non frosted ones. He drinks water from everything...toilet, cups, floor... his bowl..etc. I drink tea all the time and every so often he'll drink my tea. He tries to drink my hot tea but I don't want him to burn himself.

Lol! My cat drinks tomato juice! Well, teas have just too little caffeine, I don't think it will harm your cat. Think about the good things tea can do to your body. Try to give some tea to your cat, with no sugar! I like to give fruits to my cats... vets say that you can give everything natural to pets.

Yeah, that is a good point. Tea is very natural and good for the heart. Lots of anti-oxidents. Could help him live longer. Maybe kitty is smarter than I had given him credit. Will try the fruit. That sounds like something he'd like.

I don't think it would be enough to make him sick. My cat will try and drink my juice or whatever I have in a cup if I place my cup down on the floor. She'll also knock a bottle of water out of your hand so she can try and drink it. Cat's are very funny like that. I think maybe they just get bored from only ever having water to drink? I know I would! They make milk that is safe for cats, it looks like a juicebox and has a picture of a cat on it, you can get them usually in the pet food aisle at the store. Try that, maybe your cat just needs something different every now and then?

I've never tried orange juice, but I think he likes Juicy Juice, because of the fruit. It's got loads of sugar in it.

Cats have really different tastes, they can get used to unusual foods and drinks, especially if they get them when they are young. I once had a cat who liked peas, corn and sweet pepper and many cats seem to like small cucumber pieces when they start to eat them as kittens. If there was milk in your tea, maybe it was the milk that your cat liked most.

One of my cats loves to drink tea, he'll always appear when my husband sits down to drink a cup. We don't give him much but he's quite content to lick the drips of your fingers :) The other cat though hates it and will run a mile if you offer him any LOL!

Humm, nice to know that my father in law cats aren't the only one with wierd eating/drink habit. They like to eat cheese, cakes and sometimes they crazy about drinking coffee cream. Basically, they like to eat what my father in law eating. Although I'm not sure if they like tea too since my father in law never drinks any tea. We tried to stop them, but didn't work so far.

I don't have tea in my house so I don't know if my cat would like tea. If it wasn't a lot of tea, then I don't think it would make him sick
