One who advocates or resorts to measures beyond the norm, especially in politics. It is the definition of Extremist (as taken from http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/extremists). It properly indicates that one who deviates from the normal path is an extreminst. Who passes the normal border is an extremist. But now a day the powerful western media is spreading propaganda that the one who follows the rule of islam is an extremist. To pray, To perform religious acts is not the extremism.

There's a big difference between extremism and fundamentalism. What you're describing is fundamentalism, which, even though many people disagree with it, is, for the most part, harmless.
Extremism is characterized by taking your beliefs to a level outside the norm. For instance, it's common amoung modern day Christians to believe homosexuality is a sin, but going out and lynching gays is not a normal behavior for the general population of Christians. This is extremism. Unless you're going out and hurting people because your beliefs say these people are disagreeable (and I'm sure that's not the case), then you're not an extremist.
The next time someone tells you you're beliefs make you an extremist, tell them to look up the definition of the word before they use it, because they obviously have no idea what they're talking about.

I have often had a problem with people saying someone elses beliefs are extreme. To me an extremist is simply someone who's beliefs are far removed from my own. We tend to see our own beliefs as normal, very few of us consider ourselves as extremist. Therefore, it tends to be those at one extreme of a spectrum that see others in this way. I wonder how many people in the islamic world see Bush as an extremist? How many people in America see Bin Laden in the same way? In reality both are wrong, what they mean is that they have different views
