What do all these mean ... LOL, .:P, .:D, ^-^, =_= etc. ?

I can see so many people using some symbols and letters presumably to express certain emotions. I regret to state that I don't know the meaning of such letters amd symbols. I think it is part of a chatting language emerged due to the internet. Can anybody explain such letters and symbols. I give some examples below.
LOL, .:P, .:D, ^=^, =_= ect.
It would be much helpful to me.

Do do do chatting ?? Or you have done chatting but never ever used these symbols ?? Ok I will explain only that much that I know .. Let's start :
LOL -- means -- Laughing out Loudly
:P -- means -- tongue out -- kind of emotion in yahoo messenger
:D -- It's a laughing emotion in yahoo messenger
^=^ -- sorry I don't know what this emotion means
=_= -- sorry again I don't know what this means
Hope anyone else will explain the remaining last two emotions :) .. Happy mylotting

often smiles used on yahoo messenger and MSN
I think smile like:
^_^ mean smiling
^^' mean shy
^.^ mean happy
-__-' mean dissapointed
T_T mean crying
there is a lot of smile kind of thoose ... that I mention 1 by 1 sorry hehehe ... all these smiley insipred by japanese anime usually added with ( and ) such as (^_^)if I'm not mistaken ... is anyone know about it? please make correction.

LOLZZzzz....
This LOL means Laugh Out aLoud.
:P this meaning showing tongue.
:D means you are laughing.
I am not pretty sure about the other you have mention though you can think it of a cats face or so another kind of expression.
These are emoticon code words used In Yahoo messenger , Orkut and other such sites....If you get to a messenger you will come to know about these symbols. As you have said all these are chat shortcuts and has become a common usage here too.
Smiles .....a bit different one....

LOL mean Laugh out loud... ;P mens sticking your tongue out, as in jest or fun. :D is smiling big, the others are based upon anime faces, you can see the eyes and smiles. ;) is winking just look at most of them sideways and you acn kind of see what they are.
