Most people I know including my own family, tend to dine out during the weekends.. it's sort of like taking a break from household chores, all the cooking and cleaning.
Usually we go out for lunch on Saturdays and go out for dinner on Sundays. We don't do it every weekend though.. eating out is pretty heavy on the wallet too.. but maybe 2 weekends in a month we will have this routine.
What about you? Do you cook during the weekend because it's the only time you're free to do so? Or do you go out to eat during the weekend because you've been cooking the whole week?
Thanks alot for sharing you guys..:)

I don't eat out during weekends and I don't really go out too because that's when I could sit around being lazy and grumpy *laughs* at home. My weekdays usually drive me crazy running around working and I have to work long hours, therefore, I can't really have much time to enjoy being at home. And usually I eat out so much [don't have time to cook] during weekdays and I am just sick of it. I would cook something simple at home and the experience is really calm and enjoyable. Like you said, eating out is heavy on the wallet too, and I try to cut down unnecessary spending.

I can't imagine wanting to cook on weekends when I have to cook all through the week.. actually, the cooking i don't mind. But when there's around 5 people in the house, the cleaning up is just... *sigh*.. lol! Besides, my family always expects something a little more special during the weekends.. either it's pasta, roast chicken, grilled lamb.. so, i definitely prefer to eat out.. hahaha.. and run away from the pressure! :)

Yes eating out is really a treat for housewives I think and it's a reward for the hard work during the week. If I were cooking all the time, I would definitely want to eat out during weekends. I hate the cleaning too and the creativity involved in the cooking? Oh my gosh! I would faint before I even lift up the ingredients to prepare.

I would love to dine out every weekend, but we really can't afford to, especially with five of us. Plus, my husband has a lot of food allergies, so eating out at one of the cheaper places is not an option.
I homecook all our meals. Usually I love cooking. On most Saturday nights we have a roast in the weber, which everyone loves.
If we do eat out on the rare occassion, it is usually at a hotel or resturant wehere they serve australian meals, as hubby couldn't have any of the asian foods.

Ohhh.. i see. i don't know what i'd do if I had food allergies.. I really love food.. especially Asian food. The more the spices the better. But as long as you can keep the menu interesting, no one will get bored with homecooked meals. Anyways, thanks jenny, for responding.

I love the big family meals. But as it's only myself, my wife, and my dad my wife and I try to get out every Sunday for a nice meal outside the house. This is so she gets a break from having worked 6 12 hour days and for me to get some rest and time away from taking care of my father. All during the week I eat at hiome with dad. Ever so often I get out with some friends from my A.A. club for lunch or dinner. But I actually prefer someone else cooking and serving me my meals. We still have the big family meals on the major holidays like Christmas, Easter and Thanksgicing days. Huge meals too.
HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

hey there grandpa bob!
I love family meals too.. Especially when my mom and my aunts start cooking up a storm for celebration meals.. Yum-O!! But then again, it is nice once in a while to go out and let others serve you for a change.. And get a break from the normal day to day home cooked food.. Anyways, have a nice long weekend and have a Happy upcoming 4th of July!! :)

At least one day of the weekend we get to go out as a family somewhere, just to get out of the house. If its a movie then we stop off at a takeout place nearby and head to the movies after, or the other way round. If we go to a mall for shopping or for my son who likes to play at the kids corner, then we dine out as well.
Most Sundays we cook our meals at home.

I wish we could go out to restaurants more! Perhaps when our daughter is older and understands table manners we will do so. Until then, it's home cooking for us. It's not really cheaper for us to cook at home, but it's what we have. Often I think it's cheaper to get take-out food from local restaurants than to cook it myself.
