There were just reports of a suspected terrorist attack on Glasogow airport - there hasn't been official confirmation yet that this was what happened.
Today was the first day of the school holidays in Scotland so the airport was really busy.
My question - does fear of a terrorist attack affect your life? Are you less likely to go to London or any big American city because you are afraid?
Or do you, just accept the possibility of being caught up in an attack as soemthing you have to life with?

I feel sick to stomach after hearing the various new items today (and I avoid the news as much as possible usually). I live in London, I was in a pub a few years back when an IRA bomb went off yards away (although a coded warning was phoned in and there were no fatalities). I remember the London bombings a few years back when I was in a mad panic because my brother works above in an office block above a major railway and tube station and I couldn't get hold of him to find out if he was safe (he was but I didn't know that at the time). I don't use public transport generally, avoid it at all costs because I have a car not because I'm afraid of being blown up. I can be blown up at any time at any place, when my time is up it is up. No point in living every day of your life in fear but it would be nice not to have to hear that evil thugs like this are going around trying to kill and maim innocent people. Be safe hun. xx

I lived in london at the time the IRA were still bombing so I still remember lots of occasions when the tube was closed or roads were cordoned off or public buildings were evacuated. After a while it ceases to become such a big thing, it becomes more of an inconvenience.
These days, though, we are all much more mobile - we fly alot more, we are more likely to take breaks in the capital and other big cities - and the possibility of being caught up in something just seems more real.
I travel abroad a lot and last year went to some countries that also have problems with terrorism so I can say it doesn't put me off. Strange then that i feel moe apprehensive about being caught up in it here than abroad. I just can't explain why that is.

This was obviously linked to the two failed car bomb attempts in London on Friday even tho they were thwarted it still has the same impact the terrorists want, to strike fear in every person in this country, to let us know that they can and will strike at any time without giving warning. They want panic, they want disruption and regardless of whether they kill anyone or not in the process to them it's just a bonus another infidel killed in the name of Allah. They will never stop and to be honest can't be stopped, even if our troops do pull out of Iraq there's been too much water or indeed OIL under the bridge, this is something we have to live with and in answer to your question do you feel safe? I felt no safer before the attempted bombings than I do afterwards. You have to live your life to the full because no one know what's behind the corner. But we have to give a united front and tell these terrorists that we stand firm, providing off course we have good leaders and sadly, we haven't!
