It really depends on the person reading you and the level of seriousness on both your parts. I've given and gotten tarot readings that were really casual and low-key, as well as ones that were very stressful. It's just a matter of how you approach the thing. They probably will know what to say to put you at ease, or at least explain things to you as you go so it's not so scary. Really tarot cards are just a tool for making decisions, or getting ideas about things that are already going on in your life. There's no reason they have to be scary or overwhelming! Just make sure not to take the whole thing too seriously at first! Just because the tarot cards say something bad for you doesn't mean that something bad will actually happen, it just means that there is something in your life that you need to investigate and work on. And if you do get a reading from someone who seems intent on scaring you, then keep in mind that they're the ones not approaching it in the proper way.
