Just like everyone has a style of music they like the most, everyone also has a style that they like the least, or down right hate. I'll start off by saying that I can't to listen to country music. What music drives you nuts, or is your least favorite?

Rap, definitely rap. There's just something about it I can't stand. It doesn't sound good to me at all. I thought for a while it was just because of the lyrics that often offended me, but even rap that isn't offensive just doesn't sound good to me! Other than that, I can listen to pretty much anything. I enjoy many different kinds of music, though there are genres (like country) where I prefer older styles over newer ones.

Not really into Rap either. I do like some of the rock/rap though, it's not that bad of mix. Straight rap though, most of it anyways makes me want to jump out a window.

My favorite is Country. But my least favorite is Heavy Metal. I just can't get into it. I don't know exactly why but I just don't like it. Besides that I pretty much like any other music.

Thanks for commenting speedy1279. I'm actually rather fond of heavy metal and it's older brother classical music. Some of it is rather off-putting and I can understand why not everyone likes it.

Hello Filmbuff, I like so many styles of music. Classical is probably what I listen to most. But, I love choral/acapella, the Blues, Old Motown, and driving Rock-n-roll. And, yes Opera, Alternative and Country too! What drives me bananas? There are a few: Rap, because it is an affront to the ears and the heart. Chaotic improvisational jazz, because the departure of a basic rhythm just messes with me. It's like it runs contrary to the rhythmic beats found within the human body. It actually agitates me physically. I'm also not terribly fond of Mariachi Band music. I've heard it so much, that it's just overkill for me personally. Technobeat doesn't do much for me either. But, the real biggie is Grunge. If someone really wanted to torture me, they need only lock me in a room and force me to listen to Grunge. Grrrrr!

Oh yeah, grunge. I never can understand what they are saying. At least in rap I know.

You hit the nail on the head with your description of grundge. I do understand how it found popularity with angst-ridden youth. Some of it though isn't all dark and depressing. A couple songs by Nirvana are pretty good, this coming from a person who does not like them. "Black Hole Sun," by Pearl Jam (I think) seems rather uplifting to me.

I hear you on rap, it's definetly not my favorite, but at least it has a discernable beat. Okay confession time, the chaotic jazz you mention irrates me too. It throws all rules of music out the window and is nigh impossible to follow or figure out. I've tried to figure some out and it's maddening. I'm like, where the hell did that llth chord come from, why for the love of all that is holy are they resolving on *that* note. It's impossible, and beleive it or not it's not that improvised. They have extermely difficult charts and progressions they are following how they get to where there going is made up on the spot though... Grunge I can deal with. The only thing I have against it is that they helped kill hard rock and metal and set rock music back a good twenty years. Out of curiousity, why do you dislike it so much?

Well my preferred is country :) but my least favorite is rap. I cannot stand to listen to it. It's like nails on a chalk board for me. I have heard a couple that are decent but for the most part I can do without it all together. It just goes to show though that everyone has different tastes since I do know so many that like rap and many others like you who do not like country.

I'm not overly fond of rap myself. But I would rather listen to it than most country, no offense. Rap is more of a rythmic trick as opposed to an art form.

I actually like country music a lot, but then I like almost all types of music. I certainly understand why a person wouldn't like country. The two types of music I cannot stand is rap and opera. Rap because oh, I have too many reasons to go into it, and opera because it is what my sister sings and she sang it all the time growing up. I cannot tell you how much I loathe opera now. LOL

I can totally understand not liking rap and opera. I actually used to share your dislike for both. Some of the very old, original rap was okay. I do like some of the rap/rock, but I'm not going to go out of my to listen to rap by any means. I had a detest of opera, up until music appreciation in college. Carmen is full of great music, and pretty much any opera by mozart just might change your mind. Thanks for commenting.

Music that sounds like a "sneaker in a dryer". Basically most rap is what I DON'T like. My next least favorite is Country. To me, both rap and country are very broad terms, and I do like certain styles better then others. When I think of rap, I think of the "hatred" music of the "gangsta" style. As for country, well much of the new stuff is either a rip off of an older rock song (stolen from R&B) and many times the newer country sounds like soft rock of the 80s. For both genres, I like some of the original stuff--old school original stuff. Run DMC, Earnest Tubs, etc. They were more original in their approach. Then the style turned too commercial to be original. Now, both me and the missus are always at odd over music. She dislikes hard rock but likes Country. I'm the opposite. So...we compromise...lol the car stereo is set to love ballads which nobody seems to enjoy for too long.

I'm not fond of either of those styles either. Some of the old rap is good, as is some of the rap/rock. Country music drives me up a wall. Some of it I can bear, most of the newer stuff makes me laugh though, it's so close to rock, yet somehow manages to keep all the worst aspects of country. Ballads on the radio as a compromise? haha Have to admit that I'm a sucker for power ballads, they are sooo much fun to play and write and occasionally sing along with. Sister Christian, oh the time has come.... hahaha

Sister Christian is a Classic! As for the compromise, if I give in on the country, even a little, then its country all the way. So, I'll tolerate the never ending ballads. She's getting into the 80s music, so there's still hope...lol

OH my!!! Just like you I really don't enjoy country music much. I know I"m biased and I know why so I try to be reasonable and civilized about it but I really can't hear it LOL Otherwise I"m pretty much ok with any kind of music including opera and jazz, or even Gregorian chants LOL but please don't give me country music :)

just the same, i don't prefer listening to country music. Though there are some classic rock music from Led Zep that are derived from country music, but that's a different story. during college days, i do listen to heavy rock music though i currently listen to all types of music (but still depending on the artist) except country. Usually, it just depends on my mood. Well, to each his own. Have a great day!

I just love music from country to rock, and opera to 'Rap' well not exactly, I just can't get into rap music, I know it is a new modern music and the young people love it, but I can never understand what is being sung about or spoken as the case may be, and the music does nothing to my inner soul. So all you rappers out there, sorry but it doesn't do anything for me.

I have really eclectic tastes in music, so I listen to almost everything. I've never really been able to get into country, though, and I only like a really limited selection of rap. Mostly, it has to be old school rap, from the very early days of the genre. I'm also not a big fan of pop music, but some of those songs are just so infectious that I can't live without them. :)
