Do you laugh at yourself?

There are many different types of jokes, some good, some bad, some general know, some personally invented... I tried to study how a good joke is made, and I realized the best way, thoose that everyone laughs out laud, are made with this variables:
-50% beliable fantasy
-50% unbeliable truth/reality
Then I asked to myself: how is this made?
And I studied the people around me that are good making jokes (thoose that make laugh different people).
My conclusion was that they get a better work on this equation I stated (fantasy-rality) when the joke was based on themselves, an thoose were the cases in which they get more laughs in return.
"The devil is ugly, I saw him this morning on the mirror!".
So do you use this technique on your funneries? Or you try to mock on others? Or maybe you invent general stuff trying to not offend no one?

if i said the devil is ugly and i saw him in the mirror and also laugh about it , i think that then i am so sad inside , if i said i am too fat and i make an earthquake and i laugh about it that mean i don't believe in my self , i don't like to laugh at me or at other , but maybe if i felt then i will laugh because if i don't it will be so embarrassing .so the only real laugh is that come from a nice situation .

i am agree with you that every one has his beauty and i know that the human being is the most value creature in the world , but ...... no one is perfect . i was fat , and the bad thing that i couldn't except me as it is , in spite of telling me that i have my beauty , and i know that it was only me who complain about my weight , in spite of that i was laughing and laughing but inside me i was crying , you will hear many times that fat people have a good humor , no they are sad and they try to race any one who who has a thought to make jokes , so we say : no sir you will not tell a joke about us , but us will joke about us and don't you say amen , so i am telling you about an experience for many including me .

I don't agree, somehow. If you can laught at such self statements is because you don't believe in them inside, or you just don't mind them inside. I think each one has a different beauty so being ugly is just a funny invention. And being fat is not a problem (except when it comes to health problems) so laughin at being fat is actually laughin at thoose that don't know how to appreciate things.

The majority of comedy is based from the comic's life and comes from a place of hurt. The pain is eased when the comic is able to make a joke of it. Again, the majority of humor has some kind of "hurtful" meaning behind it.
EX: My wife is so ugly she scared the snake!
EX: My dad beat me so hard my a$$ is now leather!
Roseanne Barr often made jokes about herself, her weight, etc. These jokes were funny to us, but they came from her place of serious pain.
If you watch a lot of SitComs you will often find that most of the ones based in family humor (Roseanne was an exception), have the wife putting down the husband quite a bit. This is done, I believe, because if it were the other way around, women viewers would not tolerate it.
There is the Tabloid Humor, which is truly sick also. How much do we care, or should we care about the young woman who recently got out of jail? We give celebrities tremendous status and when they fall from their pedestals (because they are human), they become fodder for Leno, Letterman, and all of the other comedians who want to take pot shots at them.
Then, there is the minority of humor, the kind that I find truly funny. It is the kind done by Ellen DeGeneres. It is called Situational Humor and is not dependent on any bad event in anyone's lives. The world is a better place for comedy of this type. We can smile, giggle, and even belly laugh knowing that no pain was produced in the making of it. ~Donna

I think it comes naturally for some people too like my younger brother. He has a quick tongue and is often funny when he says things to us. I on the other hand am terrible when it comes to telling jokes and when I try to repeat one that someone has told me, I stuff it up LOL

I can laugh at myself but don't like other people to laugh at me, lol. I have always been kind of a joker. I don't tell jokes but I make little comments that are sometimes funny. You have to make light of things sometimes. I think it helps keep our sanity.

I would say that I laugh at myself more than anything or anyone else! I'm not good with remembering or creating jokes, but I always have a funny story or two I can tell based on my own experiences!
Part of it probably comes from the fact that I am a very klutzy person, so there's always the physical humor factor to consider. If I didn't laugh about my klutziness (which is made worse now by illness), I think I'd have to cry about it! So of course I laugh instead! =)
I don't try to mock others, unless they are very close friends who will understand the joke and not mind. I try to be very careful not to hurt people's feelings, because I know how that feels when people do it to me. However, among my close group of friends, there are many things that we all joke about regarding each other.

I often laugh at myself when I make mistakes.I seldom make any jokes for fearing that no one will laugh at my jokes.I like to listen to the jokes made by others. If I find it funny I will laugh at it.Some people have a quick tongue and are active that they always find the way to make other people laugh out.But I don't.I think I am not a good speaker but a listener.

well i try general stuff and try not to hurt other's feelings though sometimes i do make jokes on others but its to a limit that doesnt hurt other's feelings too much. And i would never joke on myself... it looks odd , even if i want to make people laugh i dont do jokes on myself.

I have a bad sense of humor, meaning I find just about everything funny in some since or at least can pull a joke from it. I reckon I am a bit morbid at times. I joke about myself first a foremost, but no one is safe from me, LOL.

Yes I do laugh at myself many times as I make lot of silly mistakes. I don't feel ashamed about it but feel free to accept my fault and I laugh. Besides I also make fool of myself delibrately somtimes to make others laugh. I found that to be honest and simple and humble person brings you lot of friends and you become popular among them because everybody feels comfortable with such a person who can laugh at his or her ownself.

I'm not really good at spontaneous jokes, but could be very adept at pointing out fallacies or inconsistencies in a situation but do it in such a way you have to "listen" to what I'm saying....not hear, but listen.
I've done that many times in meetings with the higher level bosses, and had maybe 25% of the group in stitches, but the rest couldn't understand what was said.
On the same topic, I don't laugh at many jokes unless they are curious.
