Okay I just found out that my son is going to have to have speech therepy. He is two years behind in his articulation. I couldn't believe how far behind he was.
So I am wondering. Have anyone else here had to get thier kids speech therepy? If yes, did it help? How long did it take for you to notice a difference? Did your child do good with the therepy. Please share your thoughts with me on this issue.

There are a few children in my fiancees family that have speech problems. What I learned is speech therapy can do the children a world of good as long as you are willing to work with the child at home as well. My fiancee one brother worked with his son on a daily basis just doing little things that the therapist showed him to do with his son. The therapist showed the father games and such to help his sons speech. Within six months his sons speech was where it needed to be. On the other hand another one of her brothers didn't do the work at home with his daughter so there was barely any kind of improvement made.

My nephew went to speech therapy right during school hours- he was pretty young- I think 1st grade- He was taken out of the classroom and noone knew the wiser- I noticed it within a few months- I could not believe how much easier he was to understand- and now he speaks very clear- I think it is very important to get our children the help they need in school when they are young. This way it's early on- and they won't miss more important things as they get older.

You will hear the difference very quickly, the children have fun and learn at the same time. My nephew had man ear infecions so he never reall heard correctly but what a change, he is understandable and feels better about himself. You will be glad he got the help!
