If you could only choose either Power or Wealth, which would it be and why?

We all know with money comes power but...
If I could only choose one or the other I would
pick power. I would love to have the ability to
make things happen to better humanity and the
world.
I would rather use the full capacity of my brain
rather than using a full wallet. Power can bring
about wonderful things that can last well after
you're gone. Wealth buys so much but it is short
lived as is our lives.
History does not judge a person by what you had
amassed during life but by the legacy you left.

I'd chose power also. Ironically having power gives a very high likelihood of having loads of money too. But as you said to be powerful means you have reached a certain state within yourself, like confidence, knowhow, the will to act, to achieve.
Power + Will + Compassion = awesome.

I too agree that power, will and compassion
are awesome. Of course power any money are
virtually inseparable but I would give up
my billion dollars if I could help a billion
people. That wouldn't be one dollar per person,
only a trade for the ability to make a difference.

An ideal world. Bring it on indeed. Unfortunately
for the 95% of us the 5% doesn't have a conscious
like we do. There are very few who attained their
position without being ruthless and cold hearted.
There are some like Walt Disney, Henry Ford, Dave
Thomas, Warren Buffet, Richard Branson, Mark Cuban,
etc., that have built their empires from dirt and
still remain/remained humble.
However, these individuals amongst others like them
don't amount to a hill of beans in the grand scope
of things. I estimate that 90% of that 5% are either
corrupt or totally self centered individuals and
corporations.
I believe we are past the point of fixing humanity.
That may sound harsh. but watch what happens in the
next ten years and remember what I said.
Tetchie. Are you going to help Anniedup and I with
our label problem? Shhhhhh, top secret.

You know just by making that statement you are making a difference. Deeds and actions can be the creating of a particular space that you embody.
Power in many cases leads to corruption, it's a knife's edge to stay in integrity when you are sitting on a powerful force which huge amounts of money can create. But doesn't mean it's not achievable.
If the 5% of people who hold the maximum amount of wealth in the world were to use the knowhow it took to create their wealth, pool their resources and invest a meager 5% of their own wealth toward the basic necessity of food, water, education and opportunity for those that are in oppressed circumstances, and that 5% kept generating it's own wealth then maybe the world would be a better place. Of course the management of that 5% would need to be of the utmost integrity to ensure no corruption. The ideal world!! Bring it on.

I would chose wealth. I know it sounds greedy (but so is power). Like you said in this modern age in the peak of the Twenty-first century wealth=power. But I don't want power much because I don't want to draw attention to myself. People are very greedy and people are very jealous towards those who have power. I think it is sort of dangerous to have power. I would like the money without the fame unlike many others. It would be great to just be living in a private mansion somewhere on a private island or something where no one knows you and you enjoy your wealth without fear and the stress of power and responsibility. That is just my view on this subject :-) Rated +.

No that's ok it doesn't sound greedy. It's all
about how you use it. I imagine you can still
remain anonymous with immense wealth. There are
those who do.
If I were to choose wealth I would pretty much
live just as you described. I have the will to
help people but would feel about accepting the
credit. Just as with money. I'll take it but will
not flaunt it. Only use it for my personal and
private enjoyment.
Your view on things count and is appreciated.

I have to agree with you on this one. Power can be worth so much more than money. However, you have to remember, with money you can change people's world. You can create shelters, hospitals, etc. You can go to third world countries after you've changed our own country and make a path of change.
Hmmm... now I'm not so sure.. I might go for the money because the money can make a difference too. The power would work, but would need the money behind it and we all know how "greedy" wealth can be. It's not a given that just because you have the ability and power that the money will follow you.

Ah but with power you can spend other people's
money. These corrupt rich people and corporations
are always willing to give for a good cause. Even
though it's only to make them look good.

I would choose power, becasue I think I would be ise enough to do something positive with it..Money comes and goes but with power if you are wise and have Divine support..you can help loads of people, even influence govts into governing better etc. I would choose power and would negotiate with Upstairs and ask for a few extras, included in that extra bundle would be the Mandate from Heaven..If you are not sure what I am referring to, it is a Divine Pwere bestowed on Ancient Chinese Rulers who were wise..I want some of that please..I would like it now!!, or eve yesterday, clear up a bit of this mess we got ourselves into lol, including global warming..It has been pissing down with rain here in London and it's July!!!

The Chinese have immense Divine Power. Or
to put it in secular words. They walk softly
but carry a big stick. The Chinese have many
strengths that strike fear into the hearts of
the U.S. government. I'm not just talking about
their military might.
You are a very clear thinker with a good perspective
on world affairs. I'm sure you would use your power
wisely.

i'd rather be the most powerful person in the whole world. even if i have endless wealth, it doesnt necessarily legally give me the power that a president or a king can have. Note the legally word. if i have the power, the legal power, then i can make all the rules and laws that are necessary to improve the lives of the people and the nation. especially the children. ^__^

ABSOLUTELY. That's what I was waiting for.
You can have all the wealth in the world
and "privileges" but no real power. With
power and the proper and legal use of it,
your worth to the world is immeasurable.

Ah but if only one was offered to you,
which would you take? What I mean by
this is. You can have immense wealth
but have no power but perhaps to go
shopping.
Or immense power while residing in a
shack but having the ability to affect
so much in the world. Hmmmmm?

I couldn't have said it better and I agree with you whole heartedly! I was watching the Diana concert(couldn't go online because of a disaster..) and I thought to myself, she had all the riches in the world, and had blue blood running through her veins, but her power, even from the grave, that she had, over millions of people was just absolutely amazing. She left a legacy behind of touching people's hearts not with her money, or her Royalty but with her power of healing, and empathizing with people in all walks of life!

Diana is a good example of what I'm talking
about. Though she had the wealth it was what
she did as a person that will live for an
eternity.
If wealth & power could be separate I would
willingly go penniless to make a difference
in the world.
