i have found that the kits for kids are great to learn a new craft. they teach the very basics and then you can go on to learn more. do you have a craft store like a michael's or something? check it out for a kid's kit... i don't knit but i intend to learn one day and i'm going to get a kit i saw at one of the stores... 'i learned to knit' or something to that effect... also, some craft stores offer courses... which are cool because you get a hands on experience.
good luck with your new hobby! :-D

Thank you for your advice and suggestions. which are the most popular brand in starter kits? Are these kits easily available in all stores?

now, you might think i'm nuts, but really, when you get a kid's kit, you're getting the real basics and it's in such a way that you can understand it easily, because they're talking to kids... ya know what i mean? it's not that us adults are stupid, but when it comes to learning a new craft like needlework or even quilting, go for a kids kit - here's one that i would buy... simple... got everything you need to make a little project... in fact, i think i might order this one! this website is great too for everything ... i just love it.
