"I always like to close the door of my room no matter whether I am alone at home or not. I am a private person who like quietness in my room and prefer to do things without disturbance. How about you? Do you leave the door of your room open all the time? Or leave it halfly opened so that your room will be in good ventilation? Or are you just like me who close the door all the time? If someone enter your room and forget to close the door, will you go to close it at once? Or you seldom allow other people to enter your room?? How about when you are sleeping? Do share your thoughts:)

Being a mother, and having a very open relationship with my kids, my door is almost always open. There are only few times when it is closed, and both my boys respect that. When I am changing my clothes and well another time to. LOL Other than that, I sleep with the door open, and it is open always. I must have all closet doors shut though. My little one still thinks monsters live in there..lol.

LOL.of course you have to close the doors when you are doing those private things. You should lock it up indeed to prevent they open it accidentally. So how about the closet doors in his room, does he think there are monsters inside?

Awww, how cute! What about under the bed? For whatever reason, I didn't go through that phase. The only time I was really afraid of anything was the first time I watched Stephen King's "IT" (age 9). I remember checking the toilet to make sure there weren't any spiders there. I was scared. :S

I am also the kind of person who really cherishes my privacy. I always make sure the door is closed and not only that, I make sure the curtains are pulled over the window as well. The window may be open but the curtains have to closed. I really would not like anybody seeing me from outside. I am really surprised at how some people leave their windows open all the time even at night with the lights on. Are they not afraid some people may just be there watching even while they change? I wonder.

Yeah it may be. I think it is because I watched a lot of movies where people are always spying on others who have the curtains open that I am a bit sensitive about it.

When we sleep we always have the door closed. I close most of the doors anyway to keep from having to cool the entire house off. We leave the major room doors open for ventilation. I too like my privacy and like it quiet, so we do close the doors for that reason as well.

We close our door to bedroom all of the time. We work nites so we close door so we don't hear the phone downstairs. I am not to good at keeping doors closed otherwise because don't like ot be closed in. It is nice that our bedrooms are upstairs so it is really private and my hubby and I are the only ones at home anymore so don't have to worry about kids no more.

If your bedrooms are upstairs, they are quite private already and you will not be disturbed much by what is happening downstairs.

I prefer the doors closed and when I sleep at night they are closed as well. However the bedroom that I am currently in has two separate doors. The one that goes into an adjoining bedroom is closed while the one that goes out into the hallway is open. It's easier to go in and out when it is like this, though when the air conditioner is on I will keep both doors closed so that it can stay cool in this room.

I go as far as locking my room doors, be it the bathroom even if I live alone, weird! You know, this habit saved my life when I was living with my mum but had my own room, we were robbed but they couldn't enter my room (I was asleep) and in the morning I awoke to find almost everything gone, but thank God they didn't bother breaking my door!

when my children were little we would leave it open, for them if they felt sick or had a nightmare. when they grew up it was shut, but they were always welcome if they knocked and needed us. if my husband leaves out of town, you can bet i close it lock it and keep my head under the covers most of the night! im a scardy cat.

I only close the room to my bedroom if I am dressing when my step children are home. If just my husband or my daughter are home, I don't bother. We don't close the bedroom door at any other time. At night we need to have it open to let fresh air in, and also to let the cats sleep on our beds.

Most the time the door to my room is closed, unless I am just going to be in my room for a short period, than upon leaving I will shut the door again. During the summer months however, for some reason the air in my bedroom doesn't work right, so during the night I may have to keep the door open, so my room doesn't get overly hot and keep me awake.

I have air conditioning throughout my house, but for some reason it's not coming through the vent in my room very well. So I keep the door open so the cool air that is circulating throughout the other parts of the house can come into my room at night when I am trying to sleep. I use a fan too, but at times I have to shut it off or else my husband gets to cold and gets awakened.

If I am alone in the house I won't close the doors of my room, otherwise I close them. I close the room for a defferent reason though. I am a chain smoker. My wife or children do not like the smoke. It is largely irritating for them. That is the reason for my closing the door. I keep all windows open and put the fan on while smoking. However I will not bolt the doors. Interesting topic, Thank you.

Hehehe--well I don't have a door to my room...You see my so-called bedroom is really an alcove with just an archway, so no door. Years and years ago, though, when we first moved here (and that was a long time ago) there were sliding doors installed to give a sense of privacy...so yes, when I was younger used to slide the doors closed for a bit of privacy...Then about fifteen years ago took them down...to give a some sense of privacy I hung some kind of curtain thing to at least block the view to my part of the room where my bed was...But now...now it's all nice and open with nothing hanging up to block the view ...I like the airy feeling it has now

yha, i used to closed our door always not just only the door of my room, all the doors we have in our house... just for the privacy. I always teach my kids to knock before entering someones rooms, just for asking permition for you to enter the private room or in others house and just to think GMRC (Good Manner and Right Conduct), I used to teach my kids about GMRC its not just only for me, this could help them for their whole life, bring them in good way. I have that problems on part of my husbands family, they dont know how to knock the door especially if its closed before entering in our room or in our house... I am a type of person who usually dont dressed that much inside of our house, so I would rather want our door keeps closed every day since theres a wide window open for the sunshine comes into our house. When were still living in my husband parents house, i hate his father for checking us inside of our room every 1 o'clock am, thats was every in the middle of the night, seems like were like a kids... i tried to ask my husband to put a lack in that room but hes always replying me it was hes father who took off that lack... So when we tranferred to our own house which i really feel so lucky... I though I could have our own privacy after that, but that was just a though lol, the disturbaces (should I say that to his own parent?) of his parents lesser now than before ... WHAT a LIFE...lolz!

All my bedroom doors are always closed. This is mainly to keep my dog out of them. He is not allowed on the beds unless invited. Some nights we allow him to sleep on the floor next to the bed but never in it. But I keep my bedroon door closed. I try to get my dad to keep his shut as well to keep Buster out but I am always going there shutting the door as he is lazy. Hahahaha!! HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Oh no. He is VERY well trained. He knows not to be on the bed or the couches without permission. It's like a treat to him when we let him on the couch or bed. Hee hee.

Hi easy. Like you, my door to the bedroom or any other rooms are close all the time. It is yet another rules I implemented inside my house. I rarely let anyone enter my room. I have a spare bedroom and anybody can take their rest there. My bedroom is a place of sanctuary and everything you see there have my own personal touch.

door - leave closed or open?
Hi easy888, firstam sorry long time didn't reply to discussions to no one of my friends...have a lot of job and also different other problems. Now I always close door, I mean lock door, when am at home, even it is a day time. Agree with u that it is my private terithory and i don't need somebody, even "by mistake' will open them without my wish. when i was a student at University, I had live in the hostel. We lived 5 persons(!) in the room and never were closing door even at night time...since one night i woke up at midnight suddenly and saw in the doorway somebody were looking at me sleeping...I scared alot:) and started screem! It was the last time when we didn't lock door...

i usually do close it-probably mainly out of habit. people in my family will walk right in without knocking all the time if you don't.gets kind of annoying if you're working on a craft and don't want to be disturbed.

i dotn generally close the door. when i am going to sleep then i usually lock it and sleep. also when i dont want to be disturbed then i lock the door and do my work. i dont close the door as i dont usually sit in one place i wander from one room to another so closing and again opening is a waste of energy. :)

a lot actually because i dont sit on my computer for a lot of time so i go out and come back in a few seconds. totaling the time period spent on my computer to 1 hr i would rush to drink some water or switch on the tv or take a call to about some 20 times overall. so its a lot waste of energy. :D
