I think this is great for everyone, in the UK now it is forbiden to smoke in public areas, as a ex smoker I think this is fantastic the health issues alone make it worth while for me. one of my bug bears was walking in to a pub and then cuming out stinking of smoke.
I know there will be some who disagree with the ban but I am sure if you ask the good folk of Scotland Ireland and wales what they think I am sure the majoruty would agree its good for all concened.

i don't mind it being banned in public places but i think governments are getting out of hand with it.it is getting to the point where people can't even smoke outside in some areas and that's not right.I am an ex smoker myself and know it's terrible but it's getting ridiculous when they people can't even smoke outside. and there companies over here that wont' even hire smokers.that's wrong. what people do in their private time is the employee's business ,not the employers

I agree that parts of this can go to far, to not hire someone because they smoke is a joke. thats like saying you can't be a good dad if you smoke.....
and out side in public areas as long as it is well ventalated I don't see a problem with that either.
I just love the idea of being able to walk into a bar have a drink and not come out smelling like an ash tray.

me too! I wonder if these smokers would keep on smoking if they realized how bad the smoke makes them smell. I was horrified when I quit and was able to smell the smoke on the smokers.

In Holland it is also forbidden to smoke in public area's. Execpt for the hotel and catering industry. In the next few years they will also ban out smoking in the hotel and catering industrie. I think this is a good thing. Now when I am in a sort of a Pub, a lot of people around me are smoking. One time I even got a painfull throat, and it was not me who was smoking. I think it is a good thing to ban smoking out, so the smokers will be encouraged to stop with it.

Hi, I may be a bit of the mark but I have heard a little about the coffee houses in Amsterdam, is it true that you can smoke canabis in full view of the police? and if so how do you think they would get on with banning smoking in places such as this?
I also think that there should be smokers pubs, basically the satff get paid more to work there and there woudl be a full understanding of the enviroment, if you don't smoke you know what you are letting your self in for.
