It finally opened up this morning. And to think it only took 2 years for this dang Clematis to grow for Mr Green Thumb Grandpa Bob. HAHAHAHA! I don't see anymore buds on the Clematis yet either. But it's beautiful none the less being all alone. I also moved it to a stake pole instead of the wire. Maybe it wanted to be straight up reaching for the sun gods? Hahaha! Thanks for letting me share my beautiful garden results here everyone. I love my gardening hobby. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

That is definitely a gorgeous flower hon. Maybe the reason it was the only one on there is because it wanted all of the attention from it's admirers. LOL

I think it is at work- I think my clematis has at least 100 flowers- Gorgeous- Your flower is great too!

I was thinking I had never planted clematis, I did but they did not survive, and I have not tried again. I may have to next year. I grew up with one that was maybe a little more blue purple than this one. Your statement about the pole may actually be the clue. My mom kept hers on a trellis, made out of rebar, of all things. This is lovely, keep up the good work.

Clematis - This is my clematis- it is growing over the trellis in the backyard- I love it- I work on it each year to make it grow up and over- this time I left it alone and it grew over by itself!
OK--- I found my cable and I'm going to try to add the photo- wish me luck! and please respond when you see it- I'll be so proud if it works!

You have such an amazing variety, in your gardens, Grandpa Bob. I love all of your old-fashioned blooms. I can't remember if my mom grew Clematis or not, but think she may have. Love the colour too.:)

It is beautiful. I love wildflowers and exotic looking flowers they are my favorites. Give me a dozen of those growing in a field or garden over a dozen roses any day. Congratulations on your "green" thumb. Keep it up and keep showing us your beauties. Happy Gardening !! :)

absolutely beautiful, really. I love them all. I lay on my bed before I go to sleep, I live with a giant field behind me and watch the wildflowers sway in the breeze. I will check out your discussions soon. Off to bed now, i work midnight shift and my son's b-day is today, so my sleep amount will be little to none..lol.

Aren't clematis beautiful!! I have one in my back yard, same color as yours, that was started from one that my grandmother had back in the 1950's. I have mine on a trellis, and it's so loaded with blooms I'm thinking I need to buy a much sturdier trellis! It's ok that it's taken 2 years to bloom after transplanting, one of my gardening books said it was normal. Next year I bet you have even more! Good goin' Grandpa Bob! Enjoy your beautiful clematis!

It's beautiful and I guess it was worth waiting for. What a rich color. Florida is too hot for Clematis, so I will admire yours from afar.
