If that were the case, I would be in some serious trouble. Neither my mother nor my father showed me a lot of love, in fact they very nearly killed me. So I don't honestly believe that the love of a mother or father is a guaranteed thing, or that it is the only love a person will have. In fact, the love I have found from friends (and from my husband) have been what defined love for me in my life. I have had friends go so far out of their way to help me that it has amazed me, even when they had nothing to gain.

I don't think it's the only real love you will have, but I do believe it is the first real love you will experience, since it is your parents who conceived you, and gave birth to you, then raised you. If you have slbings and grandparents, those will be the next love you will know after your parents.

Not everyones mom and dad loves them like that. Some of them physically and emotionally abuse their kids. I can't say that a mom and dads love is the only real love because I believe it is God who has the only real love. My mom was critical towards me my whole life. Nothing I could do would ever be good enough for her. I gave up trying to please her a long time ago. The only thing that has kept me alive and sane was the love of God.
