I know someone who is always talking about the 80's and how uncool he thought they were. I personally liked many things that came out of the 80's. Many movies and music from then still bring me great happiness and entertainment. Plus, thats when we first got these neat-o thingies called computers, and atari, and arcade video games. And I can't forget about punk-rock that officially came out in the late 70's but really took off in the early 80's. There were so many things about the 1980's that I am quite nostalgic about. What I wouldn't give to stand inside a Ma Bell phone booth. Things I didn't like were Reagan, fighting going on in the Middle East , nuclear weapons. If you were there, tell me what you loved and/or hated about the 80's.

I like the music from the 80's.
I forgot the year (80 something),I went to see Cindy Lauper
and Skip Castro at the Richie Coliseum in College Park, MD.
The concert was spectacular, even though after Skip Castro
played Cindy didn't come on stage until 2 hrs.later.
I still listen to the song's of the 80's and also today's eclectic sounds.
I didn't like the fast pace of life, living in the Washington,DC area at the time.
Reagan, however was a friend and I supported him as president. When I say friend, I mean Friend in not knowing him, but as knowing of him.
I guess the personally autographed picture helped.

I'm a big fan of Cindy also. As far as politicians go, through any day and age, I must say I have never had one for a friend at any time or on any level. Poets on the other hand...
I am a patriot here in America for all it was designed to be, yet have no affiliation to any party. I consider myself an earthling first, last & only and am always a steward of it while I am here.

Looking back, I think I was too young to 'hate' anything about the 80's perse (I was 7 when I rang in the 90s), but looking back I did not like the big permed hair, the grunge look, shoulder pads or dayglo orange and lime green clothing. :)
I love the music, the movies (I am a HUGE fan of the John Hughes bratpack movies of the 80s), the video games (Pacman anyone?) and the attitude of pure unadulterated individuality that really came to a head in the 80s.

It's so weird for me to think that teenagers these days weren't even born in the 80's! I grew up in the 80's. I loved it...and whoever thinks it's uncool is LAME!
Ha ha. But seriously every era has it's great things and bad things and every era had a reasoning behind it. I loved the 80's because it's when I grew up. It's like my parents loving the 50's...because that's when they grew up. You know. I loved the movies and the cartoons and the music and everything.
Even the style back then ruled, but I think the 80's style is the only thing I'm pretty glad to be rid of!
