Does anyone know what this means?

I have recently upgraded my Norton to 2007 as my old subscription was expiring this week. Things are a little different on the computer now. There is a green bar at the top telling me that protection is normal. But sometimes this bar turns red and says "engine error". Sometimes I can go from a website to my email and the bar will change back to green, then go back to the website and it is red again. I have taken to rebooting when this happens. That clears it up - at least it has so far. I sent an email to myself when this message was up and I did receive the email, attachment and all. So I don't understand what is happening. Does anyone know what this means? Thanks in advance for your help.

I recently went from Norton Internet Security 2006 to 2007 and now have a green bar that says "Fraud monitoring is on" and it has not gone to any other color to far. When it does the weekly virus scan it does catch 1 or 2 relatively benign things whereas the 2006 seldom cauht anything. But both seemed to protect my computer well. The problem I have with the 2007 version is that it seems to have some compatibilty problems with my Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0. All of a sudden the open in another window won't work or the browser will freeze completely, stuff like that. The Internet Security includes Norton virus as well as a firewall and spyware protection, etc. But I guess it is different than yours. I ony check email online and not with the Microsoft mail thing, I haven't used it in so long I can't even remember waht it is called. I realize this is not the same as your problems but I wanted to show that they are having problems with another one of their products.

I noticed with the 2007 that there is no option to turn on or off pop-up blocker or parental controls. I liked being able to block certain sites from my kids. There are some sites I cannot access, like Victoria's Secret (not that I want to) but can't figure out how to change those either. The red bar hasn't come up in the last couple of days (knock on wood).

do you need norto's potction, if you dont need so turn him off in the control panel under the labs firewall and security anyway that protction will make you hard life slow your computer and intrent and still some smart viruses will pass it so better turn it off

Yes, of course I need Norton's protection. That is why I have it. It is not slowing down my computer. It is keeping it virus free.
